Default If you could fix only one of Florida's problems, what would it be?

As anyone who reads my posts knows, there's one thing I consider the deciding factor for Florida. What would you target if you had the power to fix it right now? Weather, government, immigration, insurance, taxes? And yes, I think that property tax is the #1 issue, tell me your views!

The price of homes of course, but that is in the works as I write this. Once he prices are back down to the mean, property taxes and insurance will not be such a big deal.

Patience is the key right now.

The lack of a real economy. It is too heavily based on tourism & retirees.

Right now, RE agents are foaming at the mouth for November to come, hoping the RVers will buy an overinflated property b/c they are blinded by the sun & sand.

After that, figuring out the housing mess & start to get rid of the inventory.

But, if there are no real jobs here, how are people going to afford to live here?

The market is already calling for lower prices and its quickly adjusting so I dont see that being an issue.

The one problem I would fix is Insurance which is out of control and not fixed yet despite what the legislators hope you will think.

I was going to say financing for homes since my realtor says thats the biggest issue holding the market back right now and I need to sell my fathers house. But for the good of the economy its better that mortgages keep the strict standards. But they will eventually lower then out of greed.

Default I would fix...

illegal immigration. It's brought ruin to many beautiful neighborhoods here. Can you imagine what America would be now if our forefathers bolted from our country when the chips were down? Instead they stayed and fixed things. And I never thought I'd see the day where we would have to fight to make English the official language of our land.

Default Homeowners Ins Mess!

It's almost a toss-up between property taxes (Rubio is right!) and the growing nightmare of homeowners' insurance. The worst of it centers on windstorm insurance. The high price is keeping working people from owning homes - if you can't afford the outrageous premiums in addition to your mortgage, you can't get the mortgage.

There needs to be national catastrophic insurance to cover huge losses, whether caused by hurricane, wildfire, tornado outbreak, terror attack - just as FEMA insures for flood, it also ought to cover catastrophe.

The insurance industry is fighting hard against such a creative concept. Yep, these are the same companies who don't want to cover anyone who lives in a risky area. And they make money hand over fist by cherrypicking their clients. Then they use that money - our premium $$ - to bribe (oops, I mean lobby) Congresspersons to act against the public good.

Really disgusting.
