Question Opinions needed on moving to southern GA or northern FL

My husband is considering a job with a territory covering GA and FL. We thought it would make sense to live somewhere near the border of the states to make his traveling a bit easier. We'd like some advice on the advantages/disadvantages on living in each state. We'd like to live in a small town/suburb with great public schools and family oriented communities. We have 2 very young children and currently live in Richmond, VA.

Any advice on taxes, state college incentive programs, crime, preferred areas, etc. would be so helpful to us. Thanks!

I like North Florida, take a look at the Tallahassee area. Also, Florida has no state income taxes and GA does. FL has sales tax and in the Tallahassee area it is 7.5 %. However, I'm sure that FL homeowners is more and I would guess that property taxes are more too. You can go to Greatschools.net and see what they say about schools in that area, and salary.com could compare cost of living for you. I have heard that GA schools are better but I do not know that for a fact. Also, look at Wakulla and Crawfordville, outside Tallahassee. I have friends that live in Wakulla and love it! Good Luck!
