It's the place we are all looking for, and those who have found it aren't telling!

Satellite Beach. Discounting 2004, historical hurricane data is favorable and public education system is arguably the best in FL.

Northwest Florida can be the right choice, but depends on the individuals needs. The cost of living is low, schools in Santa Rosa County are best in the state, and crime is low. We are not perfect but compared to larger cities the area is easier on the residents. Hurricanes have hit the area, but most of Florida can be affected. The key is to be prepare and have a plan of attack.

Do a search in the Florida forum, many post related to the Northwest area of the state....

Cities/town near the gulf: Pensacola, Destin, Navarre, Mary Esther, Niceville, Shalimar, Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Sandestin, Freeport, Panama City to mention a few

Inland cities/town: Crestview, Pace, Milton, Jay, Bonifay, Chipley, etc

Counties:

Lake Mary, Florida was rated 4th in a nationwide survey. I like it because of the close proximity to Orlandso and Daytona Beach without the crime. Problem is even with the housing slump house pricing is still going to be high.

good luck.
