Fla. man allegedly used truck outfitted with trap door to siphon fuel daily"

I miss the news in Fla, always a source of amusement. When Lauderdale beach was still the spring break capitol a cop snapped one day, lined a bunch of teens up agains't his car and beat them with his billy club while singing the theme song to the brady bunch...I laughed till I cried.

That is definitely someone from my generation having a meltdown!

I don't know. There are idiots everywhere. In my neck of the woods, a couple of months ago, there was some maintenance guy that worked in Oak Ridge. He also ran a trailer park and was about to retire. He was caught trying to sell nuclear secrets to France. France.

The French embassy had to call up up and say, "we've got some crazy redneck wanting to sell us useless information. You might want to ransack his trailer."

That was national news.

Still, when they do the lists of stupid criminals, I think Florida dominates the list.

OP are you surprised that someone was stealing gas? Or were you surprised that the criminal was a 70 year old man?

You wouldn't be surprised if you saw some of the old people in SWFL. The old folks around here may be half crippled, but you should see how fast they can hide a can of Ensure in their shirt or take sticks of butter out of their packages and slide them into a purse. They make stealing look so guilt free, when they slowly walk out of the grocery store and get into their 2007 Cadillacs.

People are desperate in Florida. Ever see how low the wages are, or how expensive it is to buy a home? Also low-life prefer HOT weather. It's a transient state so we get a lot of turnover to maximize the criminal factor. Honest hard workers move in then leave. The crooks and crazies stay.

This is true! The Walmart in Fort Myers has a huge problem with them! They are coming from an over-55 park behind the store. One old guy use to make a game of it. He thought it was funny, until they nabbed him.
