Need Advice about Palm Bay
Hello guys,
I am new on city-data and I've been reading some post and answers. guys you are fantastic, hopefully i will be able to give some advise too when i see something that i can help with, but now it's for me i need some serious advise.
Now my familly ( 1month old son and wife) and me live in upstate NY, (Albany). and we are thinking about moving to fl, in PALM BAY.
we were looking to buy a house instead of renting, because we have a family friend and some familly member that live there and they told us that there are some houses there that are really inexpensive.
I work for a bank and i am also a ballroom dancing instructor, my wife is planning on finishing school down there.
we pick PALM BAY because we didn't want the crazy citi life in south florida, and also to be closer to familly and try to start where everything seem to be growing.
we are from HAITI, it will also be easyer to see some familly in Haiti.
we are looking for a friendly town for our son and also that all of us can be closer to other family. Now in albany we are bye ourselve.
any comments or suggestion will be very app.
thank you very much guys in advance.

You just made a statement but never really asked a question. I was going to move to that area a while back and bought some property in Grant. I have since changed my mind but it seemed like a nice area.

Of course there is property there, a lot of it. I had lots in a gated community called Cypress Creek. I bought them for $26,000 each and the least I sold one for was $100,000. Taxes are not too bad there but when you just have vacant land it adds up. Mine were around $2000 per lot. Prices are coming down though and I was glad to get rid of the last lot. You sort of have to like boating and fishing to really enjoy it there.
I think even though prices are dropping it is worth the long term investment and you will not take a bath on a house there over time. There are a lot of brand new houses for sale that builders want to get rid of left over from the boom a few years ago. As long as the price is right it's a good area to move to and invest in. It has a predictable future where as some small towns in Florida will never be anything more then they are now, at least in any foreseeable future.

I think that area of Florida will continue to grow. The local economy is stabilized by Cape Canveral and all the tech firms there. Shuttle will be shelved in 2010 but the manned rocket missions are slated to start in 2013. Schools are good and crime is relatively low. I give it a thumbs up.
