Palm Bay is an interesting area. It is one of the largest cities in Brevard County. As a Brevard resident I am partial to the central area...Viera and Rockledge. Palm Bay has its fans and detractors. The schools are good but the traffic is, in my opinion, pretty bad. Hopefully the infrastructure will increase with the population growth.

I'm in West Melbourne, right next to Palm Bay.
Would I move there ...NO Traffic and road conditions are HORRIBLE and there is no end in sigh. The main road is Palm Bay Road should be a testing site for Humvee and tanks. They said 5 years ago, they were going to fix it....nothing so far. Depending on your finances, I would check out Melbourne. There are a lot of older homes there (I had one) and built to last especially through a hurricane. |

If Palm Bay is a Must, check out Bayside Lakes. It is a Master planned golf community with very nice homes, landscaping and shopping. I would look into West Melbourne and Viera area. Viera is perfect if you want all brand new shopping malls, Parks, A rated schools and great quality of life. Bayside is getting there, but it was slowed down by the market conditions. W Melbourne is a country setting with A rated schools. Its a bit older though. Its real close to beach access and the Mall.
Good Luck! |

I moved to Palm Bay 12/2000. I have seen it grow and is still growing. Low crime, good schools, city council pro active, Palm Bay road is a major Bussines rd and has lots of traffice but I see the electric poles are being moved so the road can be widen and resurfaced so the should help. lots of business so employment is good, wages are low to fair. police are on the ball. city keeps the public grounds in very good condition, mowing and groming. taxes are low, housing is reasonable, rents are about $550 to $800+. very HOT in the summer months.

Do you know anything about the utilities bills on average? and also we were really looking at purchasing a house there if we could. but we don't want to put our self into some bad situation. I work for a bank and my wife if working as a restaurant manager and she is trying to find a good college in Palm Bay and transfer some of her college credits. Do you have any sugestion on a community college there? and any idea about the income there? anything to help us through this will be very appreciate. We are thinking of moving between April and July next year. |
