Back some time ago we had posted info on the event called Hands Across the Sand (to oppose offshore drilling in Florida). Many people made fun of this idea and had no problems voicing their opinion. From the responses on the thread, it appeared that many folks were in favor of drilling and had no issue with quoting the infamous "Drill Baby Drill".

In light of this current tragedy, we wanted to do a poll to see how people feel about drilling today. Not trying to stir up a political debate but we do find it rather interesting that all the folks who were speaking in favor of drilling seem to have gone missing in action now -- what happened to all the vocal pro-drilling folks? Are you still in favor?

Down with oil, up with solar and wind power.
Stop this insanity now.

I was totally for drilling for our own oil as we need to use our own resources.

As of today I am still for drilling oil but we need to make some changes.

Although this is a rare occasion for this to happen they need to be better prepared for things like this.

To me it changes my thoughts because I believe this could have been better controlled.

Nope,

I didn't favor offshore drilling before, and I still don't favor it now.

My mind hasn't changed. I wasn't for it before and I'm still not for it after. We need to cut back our usage so there won't be such a demand for it.
I was curious, wouldn't drilling on land be not as disasterous as drilling in the water if another accident happened?

Against it before, against it now.

It might look like we don't even have to worry about drilling any more, because all the oil will be gone (just posted by fauve)

Then what?

Shutting down drilling after one accident in 60 years would be like shutting down air traffic because of one plane crash!

Really? I didn't know a plane crash affected 3850 square miles (and counting) when it went down.

This wasn't the first incident in 60 years, either.

Does anyone know if it's potentially possible for the oil to invade the Everglades? Could our water supply be affected?

I've never been for drilling off of our shores and this is one highly visible reason why. Until we wean ourselves from oil our country is in vulnerable and I don't like to be vulnerable.
