Where would you move?

Curious to hear what you would do if you were in my situation... No wrong or right answer... Just curious... We're considering Jacksonville... Maybe the St. Johns area... Although I'm not completely sold on Jacksonville...

Brief profile of myself:

- Work from home (no commute)
- Salary is at 98k annual without wife's income included
- In my 30's with two kids and a dog
- Home school our kids
- Love to fish (saltwater) - Prefer a city/place with lots of public water access
- Enjoy the beach and shell hunting
- Both laid back individuals and dislike large crowds or crowded places
- Like having stores nearby (Publix, Best Buy, Home Depot)
- Prefer a more genuine slower paced crowd

My choice would be a house on a salt water canal in Palm Coast’s Section C. Something like this:
Palm Coast Real Estate & Palm Coast FL Homes for Sale - Zillow

Probably going to have to stay in the NE section of Florida. From Melbourne it is a good 5 hour drive to Hilton Head area. Look at Jacksonville Beach.

That's kind of what I'm thinking... Any suggestions for Jacksonville? I want to avoid the herds of tourist during the summer. My ideal summer day is a fishing pole, beer, and peaceful fishing spot. I guess I cold always get a boat...

The thing is we're not old quiet types... We like to go out every now and then but I do some serious brain straining work and value my relax/chill time. For me that's fishing or strolls along the beach.

I grew up in the South and appreciate the culture and history. I like new areas but also like places with an atmosphere (old buildings/unique downtown)... Something casual (t-shirt/shorts) type of town... I guess you have to pick one or the other... Anyway, just seeing what everyone has to say about it before I head down there next week.

The Fernandina Beach area would be paradise based upon your criteria.
