I agree with nsa162 about seeing mountains and such instead of a skyline. Skylines are pretty, but I think seeing the mountains in Las Vegas in the distance is prettier than any skyline.

Yeah.. lol! My husbands from New York. Well, he's originally from Ukraine, but when he was 9 he moved to Brooklyn and grew up there. He has lived in Florida for about 5 years now, it took him most of that time to get use to it here, but now he loves it and says he wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Personally, I like the Florida city skylines a lot better than NYC. To me, the number of skyscrapers is not what makes a skyline beautiful. Obviously you have to have some pretty significant buildings, but in my opinion there's a lot more to a skyline than just buildings. Don't get me wrong, NYC is one of the most beautiful places in the world! I love New York, but I love the way the Florida skylines are lit up with all different colors, and I love the way they are all on the water and all of the lights reflect off of the water. I also love how the Florida skylines don't look as over crowded as a lot of other skylines. For example, Jacksonville is actually a pretty large city, but the skyline isn't over flowing with buildings. Jax is the largest city in FL, it's the third largest city on the east coast and it's the largest city land mass wise in the US, but it still has a smaller city feel to it, in a way. Again, just my opinion, but the Florida skylines are some of the most beautiful skylines!

You know, originally I was going to put Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa and St. Pete, but because St. Pete is so close to Tampa and because Orlando is a well known city and is just below St. Pete in population, I figured I'd put Orlando instead. But that's why I said I should have at least put an "other" option, I was thinking that someone would say St. Pete! I also think Daytona is beautiful when you're driving around in it, but as far as skyline pictures go, there's nothing good. All Daytona really is is a line of big hotels on the beach, but it is very pretty. But yeah, now that I think about it, I should have put St. Pete or at least an "other" option.

I absolutely love the blue light theme in downtown Jax and I don't know of any other Florida city that has this light effect. You can see a bit of it in the pics posted, but to experience the blue neon alongside your car as you drive over the bridge is quite cool !

I agree! When your driving through Jax it looks so different! It looks way, way bigger too! In fact, my husband who is from NYC said that he thinks downtown Jax is gorgeous! He said that he feels at home there. I love driving across the Main Street bridge (the blue bridge ) at night! Or what about the friendship fountain! That's gorgeous! Standing at the friendship fountain at night, looking past it at the Jacksonville skyline is breathtaking! You see all of the colorful lights in the fountain which looks huge when you standing right by it, and you see all of the buildings reflecting off of the St. Johns and the Main Streets bridge lit up blue with the top of it changing colors from blue, to pink, to green, to yellow, etc. I also like how the Landing is bright orange right by the bright blue Main Street bridge.
I have to say, Orlando actually has a very pretty skyline, I just couldn't find a good picture. I'm originally from Jax, born and raised, but right now my husband and I are living in Palm Coast, for my husband's job. In August we will either be moving back up to Jax or down to Orlando. Recently we have been spending almost every weekend in Orlando just looking around at neighborhoods and homes, and I have to say, when you are driving on I4 through downtown, especially at night, Orlando is gorgeous! There is a lot of construction going on, but it's still beautiful. I'll have to take some pictures this weekend and post them so there will be some better pictures of Orlando.

Me too ! When I worked downtown, I worked in one of the skyline buildings and the building itself (restaurants in the lobby, etc.) and the surrounding streets were very "NYC" (my hometown )........the streets of downtown Jax are like a teeny tiny verison of NYC .
That's why the film industry uses it to depict NYC, by the way . Films like the Devil's Advocate had some city street shots done in Jax that were supposed to be NYC streets (cheaper and easier to film it here, I guess):

For me all of them have wonderful skylines.
If I had to pick one it would be Tampa/St Pete and Orlando not even being in the running with Tampa, Miami and Jax.
One trip across the Sunshine Bridge in late eve will help anyone make up their mind.
Rocks...... now how can rocks be beautiful ?

Re: the colored lights of Jacksonville-
Someone once told me that each bridge in Jax is a different color. This is because in the past there was a high rate of illiterate people in the city and they could read neither maps nor street signs. They painted and lit the bridges in different colors so that people could find their way around-
For instance, take the orange bridge.........
I thought that was pretty interesting.

New York or London. Very similar but Buckingham Palace and Big Ben is a sight to see.
DC is pretty cool too.
