Default Anybody familiar with Citrus Springs?

A realtor in New York is offering us a 1/4 acre for 50K ready to build in Citrus Springs, FL.
There is a very nice golf course called "El Diablo" in this area. I haven't traveled there yet but I've heard many people are investing on land in this area and that prices are rising.
Any comments?

I just did a quick search on realtor.com for lots in Citrus Springs. There are almost 1,300 lots for sale there. I see lots bigger than the one someone is trying to sell you at $50K for under $10K.

Are you in NY? I am thinking that a Realtor in the area you are considering would be better able to offer you choices. Sounds like whoever you are using up there is looking for 2004 prices.

Oh, and I am not sure where you heard that prices are rising here, but they are not.

I saw those prices also so I was a bit sceptical but I was told that not all of the areas or lots are buildable and that I have to be careful with those because they can be in bad areas.

Looking at the map, I see that Citrus Springs is kind of far away from things. Out in the middle of (not quite) nowhere. I sure wouldn't spend $50K for a lot there.

Don't let a slick salesman, oh I mean Realtor, talk you into making a costly mistake.

thanks.

I was wondering if anyone in here lives in Citrus Spring that can shed some light on the real estate market situation down there. I've just heard what the developers in NY are telling people. That there are new schools being built and that the place will boom with brand new middle-upper class house communities within the next 5 years.

I live about 20 minutes from there and there are so many homes for sale right now that were recently built and still sitting empty even in Citrus Springs. I find it hard to believe them building even more especially since it costs $15,000 now just to break ground on a home in Citrus County. I wouldn't pay $50,000 for a lot either unless you really like your neighbors because they will be close. A friend of ours just bought out there and he has a nice home but it is kind of out there from any stores or anything and yes, his neighbors are close. I think the building boom is really over for this area because there is alot of homes that was built a year ago and they are still sitting empty.

PLEASE, DO NOT PAY 50 K FOR A 1/4 ACRE, you can get a better deal, I think they are around 30's K. ( 4 mo ago). Good luck! and YES, they are building new schools, that is a plus.

Citrus Springs is located in Citrus County. There are very high impact fees for all new business as well as expanding old ones. This is one of the reasons why Citrus Springs has becomes sort of a ghost town. Lot after lot and house after house for sale. I don't think there is much in the way for employement either unless you drive for miles at $3.15/gal. Other than that, it's a nice middle class neighborhood. Nothing too fancy and some of the places run down, barking dogs, kids screaming, etc.

Default Citrus Springs

I Dont Know Where You Live Maybe Citrus Hills However We Live In Paradise Called Citrus Springs. I Dont Know What Area You Are Talking About That Is Run Down. Yes There Are A Few Older Homes That Need Some Tlc But For Most Part This Is A Great Area. Homes Are Well Spaced Out. There Is A New Sub Being Built By The New Elementary School But That Wont Be Completed For Many Years. By The Way Any One Looking To Buy Property Here In Citrus Springs Please Come Here And See What You Are Buying. Right Now You Can Get Your Choice Of Lot Between 15,000 And 30,000. Dont Buy Any Lot Unseen For 50k. All I Can Say Is I Would Recomend This Area For Anyone Who Wants Peace And Quiet And In You Want More You Are 30 Min. From Just About Anything You May Want Or Need. Also 1 1/2 Hours From Tampa Or Orlando.
