Default Moving to Tallahassee

I will be moving to Tallahassee in about six months and would love to buy a home with two bedrooms, garage and fireplace. I love the houses built in the 50s and 60s.

I know I need a real estate agent. I've been looking on line at homes but don't know where they are located.

I am excited and open to suggestions. Do you think I should go up and rent for seven months while I look for a place or do you think I could find a place looking on the weekends?

Renting is probably a good idea so you can get a feel for the different areas of the city. Tallahassee has some great older neighborhoods, and besides, I don't think there should be any rush to buy in this market anyway!

I agree completely. There is plenty of time to buy. Live there for at least 6-12 mos. and you will be much happier in the long run.

I remembered the name of one of the neat older neighborhoods in Tallahassee, the Betton Hills area. I think it's a bit pricey, but it's quite historic.

Default Great neighborhoods near Midtown

The area of town called midtown sounds exactly what you are looking for. The homes are older, but well maintained and charming. You don't get architecture like that anymore. They are really revitalizing the area so there are some fresh businesses coming in. The best area is the neighborhood north of Miccosukee Road, east of Monroe, but south of sixth avenue. Near ingleside. Any realtor will know the area. If you are looking for a great realtor Kelly Vinson is awesome. She is with Armour Realty. Good luck.
