I think those who can tolerate the cold temps but have difficulty tolerating warmer temps ask the same of people who live down here year round
Exactly it boggles my mind to think that someone actually likes being hot and sticky and uncomfortable 12 months a year. Why? Its just gross.. The cold never bothered me. I love winter coats and sweaters and fur boots. I love the smell of the cold air and burning wood early in the moring and at night when I'm drinking hot chocolate.. I find that alot of people exaggerate the cold. All they can talk about is how terrible it is oh you can't do anything when its cold.Thats not true, I have a view of a ski mountain right out my kitchen, those people are doing something, we have ice skating ponds also. You'll find something to do if you really want to.
. If people could make it hundreds of years before we did in the cold without insulation, central heat and all the ammenities of today I don't see what excuse we have? Right now its in the 40's with winds of about 20 mph, been quite breezy all day.. I have my windows open, and my husband is sitting on the couch in short sleeve shirts. It just doesn't phase us what so ever. I'll only wear a sweater in the 30's I don't need a down coat till at least 20s with wind chill.

I absolutely LOVE temps in the 40s and 50s. I really miss it. I would be starting to break out my Irish Wool Sweaters and Cords.

Cannot talk about this anymore. Too depressing. Imagine just be "happy" that it is no longer 90 degrees????? Pitifiul.

I love the cold weather too. My kids miss the snow and miss going sledding on snow days. The change of seasons also affects peoples' moods. Maybe that is why so many are angry down here all the time. All that darn heat!

I find myself in a terrible mood all the time just trying to ignore the weather and everything around me, especially nothing but PALM TREES.

I am happiest when I am inside with the shutters drawn. I don't have see outside and can almost pretend I am not here.

I don't know if people move here and become angry or were angry to start with. It might be the heat. Alot of people won't say they made a mistake or it was not what they thought, That could be why. But I have to agree most people are angry.

Some people are built for the cold. I have a friend in Colorado that thrives in zero degree weather. Part of it, I think, relates to thyroid function. Many folks are borderline hypothyroid. If you feel happy and your doc wants to push antidepressants down your throat because you are sluggish and cold, find a better doc and (under supervision) try a very small dose of a tyroid medication for a couple of months. You may find you can tolerate cold better.

Diet is another contributor to comfort. Eat ginger and clove spiced foods and you'll feel warmer. Other foods can make you feel cooler. Then there is the whole clothing issue. Wear shoes that have a foam pad and don't conduct your body heat out to the cold floor. Wear knee socks to keep your calves warm. Wear thermal underwear to keep your legs warm. THEN layer your trunk so that you can flex with the temperature. Summer weight pants and no thermal underwear will give you cold legs no matter how much you layer your trunk with sweaters and jackets. Wear a hat that offers ear protection when needed. Fisherman caps and wool hats make sense for many people.

Circumstances dictated us coming here. We'd been stationed in central TX for the past several years, so we knew, to an extent, what was to greet us in regards to weather. The thing w/ SW FL is that it's subtropical & the humidity is nasty.
I will never think as coming here as a "mistake"; more of another life lesson. The thing is, people are NOT friendly down here. My husband who never complains stated this afternoon at Publix how angry & grumpy people are around here; scrowls on their faces. Maybe it is the constant heat & humidity..who knows...what a shame for so many move here b/c of that very thing.

I have been here all my life and most people that come here are nice. Older people move here with heath problems and that might be a big factor.

I can relate to what you are saying, having come from a beautiful way of life in NorthWest NJ with rolling hills, mountains, lakes and beautiful scenery, I miss Autumn most of all, the leaves falling, picking apples, widows open, fireplace burning and apple pies baking in the oven, making homemade apple sauce to freeze and going to the local farm to pick pumpkins and grab a hayride around the farm. I too hate the heat, it makes people cranky and irritable. I laugh when my neighbors say they love the heat, meanwhile you never see them outside doing anything. Even my dog, hates the heat, I will walk him around the block and he drags me as fast as he can to get back home, even the dog isn't stupid. I thought it was me, I was the nut with feeling like this, but, hey, I'm not alone......
