BUT it HAS been 90+ degrees everyday since June up until 2 weeks ago. That is without the heat index. Wait until you try to touch your car coming out of work and you burn your hands it is so hot.
You can KEEP it. I would rather have the 10 degrees. I can always wear more clothes, but how many clothes can you take OFF because it is as hot as hell.

Ok, the end of January beginning of Feb I'll start posting the weather report... And we'll see who's lying.... I remember one day it was 14 degrees out... And the news had people jogging on Miami beach @ 80 degrees in Jan... There's always a chance you can have one of those odd days it warms
up to 60... But this is an abnormal occurrence.... The end of Jan beginning of Feb is the peak of winter....

Those that rather live in the cold, go for it. But it is not what the human body was designed for. Humans originated on the warm continent of Africa. Our bodies have no way to naturally protect themselves from cold, dry air. Hence the cracking skin, numerous colds, and achy joints, and certain death when exposed to cold temperatures without protection.
The human body, when kept in top physical condition, has the ability to handle extremes in heat with adequate water. Our sedentary lifestyle has made many people less able to sweat efficiently and cool themselves properly.
It is very simple. Put a human in top physical shape in 40 degree or below temperatures with no clothes, only food and water, they die within hours. Put that same person in 80-90 degree temperatures, they survive just fine, needing only the food and water.
So it is great that some people like living where it is cold, everyone should live where they are happy if possible. But the human body was designed for 70-90 degree temperature, not 10-40 degree temperatures.

As I said, I was HERE last January. We went on a cruise to the Bahamas the last week in January. We left out of MIAMI. It bearly reached the high 60s in the Bahamas. I guess Miami must be a lot hotter than Nassau.
They may have been jogging on that beach in Miami, but on the cruise ship nobody was going in the pool because it was too cold. The HOT TUB was PACKED. People were walking around with SWEATSHIRTS on. lol
My air has been shut off for the past two weeks. It has been in the 50s/60s at night. Yeah, maybe it has reached about 80 in the day, but the breeze is very cool and in the shade it can get chilly. I have been wearing long pants and a light jacket for the past two weeks. Yep, great BEACH attire. There has been nobody in our condo pool either for weeks. The water tends to get cold when the temps go in the 50s and 60s at night.
Actually, it is a tease having 50s at night and early morning. I just keep wishing for MORE. STAY this way. Get COLDER.
ONE DAY was 14 degrees? lol You don't need to tell me what the weather is on LI. My daughters still live there. They TEASE me about the temps all the time. "I put my flannel sheets on", etc. I have my computer set for what the weather is there. Frankly, I don't care what the weather is here. I will not be going to the beach any time soon. Three times in July is enough to last me for YEARS.
So, it all comes down to one thing - warm weather. If you don't care about warm weather and beaches, Florida will hold NOTHING for you.

My family, friends, and I would not agree. There is a thread on the Miami forum where people are listing things they like to do and there are hundreds of them that do not involve just the weather.
But to each their own.

Eh, just because you don't like the weather, doesn't mean you don't like it there. I'm Hockeymom72's daughter and I'm in NYC now. I hate the cold, but I love it here in the NYC metro area. I don't despise the cold though...the only thing I like about it is that it gets me in the Christmas mood. Other than that, I look forward to spring lol (not summer so much, since it's too hot). I wouldn't ever live in FL though, I can't have year-round warm weather.

One sentence says you hate the cold, the next you don't despise the cold. So I am a little confused.
Anyway, my point was that there are some in our group of family and friends who are not warm weather and beach people, yet they still enjoy Florida.
I wish you and your mum the best of luck. Scanning back through some of her posts, it is obvious that she is downright miserable where she lives now. I hope that she is able to one day go where she will be happy.
Have a great day. We are heading out to take the kids on an old train ride through the country, should be a blast!

If hot weather is so good, why was air conditioning invented? If we were talking about Adam and Eve or a nudist colony here, that's one thing. Yet modern civilization is built on industry, which benefits from a cooler climate, or one with seasons. Being naked in the tropical sun, and exposed to insects and other hazards is no picnic either. Take a naked human to the Everglades in the summer. The fact is that human civilization developed with clothing, whether from animal or vegatative sources. Modern humans prefer temperatures in the 70's over those in the 90's. The air conditioner installed in your home is proof of that.

Thats a good decision, I hate Vas Vegas. Aside from being just an awful place to live, it represents the worst there is in the human condition and exploits it.
