I lived in southwest Florida for 10 years and did not care for the health care at all. I'll respond, so that this gets bumped up. Maybe someone else in Florida knows of a good area that would have wonderful services for your mom.

I am so sorry to hear about her condition. It think it is wonderful that you and your brother are taking such good care of her.

By the way, I am originally from New England, too.

Due to her needs, I would rule out Port Charlotte. That is not a pleasant area nor are you going to find employment unless you want to drive to Fort Myers or Sarasota for work every day.

There is a very good health care system in Fort Myers called HealthPark Medical Center.

You may want to look into living in Punta Gorda. It is a 30 min drive to Fort Myers. Many affordable places to live in Punta Gorda & a lifestyle that would suit her. The issue with Punta Gorda would be that is solely a bedroom community so youy'd ahve to work in Fort Myers.
