Is it possible to get a 2-3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home in a decent neighborhood in the FWB area for $300,000 or less?
Also what neighborhoods should I avoid? Crime isn't a huge factor for me since I've lived in Brooklyn, NY for about two years, but I would like to avoid the areas that seem to attract the drug dealers and all that crap. I am also planning on having kids in the near future, would FWB be a good place to raise kids (mainly concerned with the schools)?
How is the traffic in FWB and surrounding areas in general? As for traffic in Brooklyn, it usually took anywhere between an hour to an hour and a half to get to work. Is the traffic that bad in FWB?
Any responses are greatly appreciated.

We were so excited to see another SOX fan. You are probably not on this board right now because it's almost game time ..... GO SOX
We just checked the MLS for you and there are currently 449 Active homes in Fort Walton Beach for under $300,000 and 223 Condos available for that price. It is a buyer's market!
We don't really know which areas are crime areas in FWB because we live over in Santa Rosa Beach along the
Scenic Highway 30A.It is very low crime over this way -- we feel really safe in our little stretch of paradise, however, it's always good to be aware -- you never know. But we don't think of our area or FWB as high crime spots. FWB has a large military family population as it is where you will find Eglin Air Force Base.
As far as schools go, unfortunately we don't have kids so we can't contribute much help there -- but we've heard good things about Niceville's school. I would recommend going to the school districts website and talking with people that have the data for you. You can find info on FWB schools at
Okaloosa School Districtand
Walton County Schools which is right next door to the east.
In regard to traffic, it can be heavy in FWB and Destin, especially in the summer. We tend to have a pretty large tourist population in Spring & Summer and there are not many options when it comes to the main roads. Summer can make you want to pull your hair out, especially if it rains because then everyone leaves the beach and heads out shopping. There were many days driving back & forth to Destin that we felt like we were back in Los Angeles again. That is another reason why we prefer our area --- traffic is way less and we try not to leave our little slice of paradise at the beach any more than we have to.
All right, hopefully that's a little help. Please feel free to if there is anything else we can help with. We will do our best to get you answers.
Gotta run, we have to get prepared for the game .... wooohooo.... Go Sox !
