will begin Dec. 17 to 'take out' a total of 173,000 policies, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation said Monday. Affected consumers will be notified Nov. 7, although they can choose to keep their Citizens policies.

Very interesting. I wonder if that's a result of two quiet years (tropically speaking), or whether the stratospheric insurance rates are luring companies back.

I just wish we could have far more affordable insurance - before all the working people have left the state.


We got selected out of Citizens earlier this year, by a company I've never heard of: Florida Peninsula, in Ft. Lauderdale. Although I trust Citizens, I suspect it's better to maintain coverage continuously through private insurers - it might look better on our insurance record.
