Which is why you think we, quote, "need to leave Tampa alone" right?

Because the only way to change a city is to emulate Miami?

I would not mind a further explanation......for here in NY we have a hugh Cuban population in upper Manhattan......probably a bigger population than they have in all of Cuba...

But you have to admire Castro - once considered a freedom fighter - who emptied his prisons...and sent them all to the good old USA......

Well the OP asked what we thought of the panhandle and everyone said its a bunch of rednecks up there. My point was that the whole state was southern in character prior to everyone coming here from up north and Cuba. The northerners came to escape winter, while the Cubans came to escape communism. And no, I dont admire castro at all, I wish Kennedy wouldve assassinated him back in the 60s.

How about sticking to the topic of the thread and not following me around the forum trying to argue the same topic with me?

Don't make ridiculous assertions and you won't get called to task.

Given how the big job centers in the Panhandle outside of Tallahassee are all driven by Department of Defense spending, I'd actually call it the most communist/socialist part of the state. Look at the structure of how the military compensates and treats its uniformed folks- subsidized housing, cheap health insurance, etc. and living on base actually kind of resembles socialist Sweden or Norway with palm trees.

Being a snarky liberal with no patience for sacred cows, it amuses me to point that out to the local Tea Party folks who are all 'cut government spending NOW!' while working for a defense contractor and using TriCare for their health insurance.

Of course, all of the DOD people you're talking crap about have taken oaths and given up their "freedoms" to defend yours for substandard pay and healthcare that you're calling socialist.

I wonder how "snarky" of a liberal you'd be if it weren't for our Department of Defense and the men and woman that protect our freedoms?

OP, In my short lifetime, I've lived in Tampa, Orlando, Ft. Myers, Nashville, Atlanta, New Orleans, Memphis, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. I've visited or vacationed like like 30-35 states, I love the laid back feel of the Panhandle. It may not be a career mecca, but the lifestyle is nice and slow, the people are nice, and the beaches are world class.
