Hey guys...
Been here 50 years with some "time" done up north, Mass for 3 months, NY for 3 months...yes, I have experienced winters up there. I also fit into the I hate Florida catagory. I am only here because of family obligations, which are now dwendling and I feel we can go. We are making motions to move to MA currently.

Florida beaches, you can't get near one. If you could, who wants to be outside in 100+ degree weather with humidity you cannot comprehend, daily!!! AC runs 9 to 10 months a year. Crime, OUTRAGEOUS!!!! even where I live, in the country, Plant City (not Walden Lakes area), we hear about home invasions, shootings etc. Property taxes, oh yeah we got a BIG cut. From 5,100 to 4950...wow! gonna buy that porche now! and the insurance is 1700 a year and thats not a mobile home. I have a 2000 square foot home! Give me a break!

In Ma, and I assume NY, though have not gotten into the city of NY...there are theater districts, food that is upscale and not just chain restaurants, museums, history, culture, education, and som many wonderful things to do! its amazing. Here, its gambling, drinking, and golf...with 1 theater with really nothing going on there.

People come here after they have lead their lives up north and come here to finish off their years. They are grouchy!!! They drive giant RVS and can barely handle small cars. There is nothing to regulate how they drive these giant RVs. Now, we have an RV, 5th wheel. My husband took the training class, though he was only 46 when we bought it. He was the only one in class though hundreds were sold! scarey!

The schools, horrible...if I had kids there is no way I would allow them to go to school here. No one cares. They care more about the Hard Rock gambling casino. Its just not a good place. The weather is okay maybe 1 month out of the year. Hurricanes! I have never met nicer people than the folks up north. I love the people in MA. My husband and I would sit at the T station and talk about house hunting and where we were going to look at the next house. Before we knew it, we had a crowd around us telling us about this house or that and oh, check out this area and don't do this etc...it was like we were in another planet. This happened everywhere we went. Fact of the matter...come down and stay a year...dont sell what you have at home...cause you will be sorry....I, personally, cannot wait to get out of here...so, house for sale, plant City, Fl...hahahah...sorry so long...i could go on forever!

A couple a days ago I read Florida has 6 out of the 10 best cities with job grow in the USA right now....

I cannot believe that!!! I know that by researching our moving to MA, the houses there are much lower in property taxes. I have heard that NJ is outrageous though! We also have a lot of folks here moving to NC. But, in my opinion, depending on what you want, it is culturally dead there too. Tennesse has awesome property taxes, a little higher on sales tax, but, again...culturally dead! Also folks there very predjudice.

I'm fairly happy in FL. I love the outdoors....but there are only so many months out of the year where they are enjoyable (including going to the beach) - because it's often too hot for me. It's a very pretty state, with some amazing wildlife.

The cost of living vs. low wages is becoming a problem for a lot of people, and a lot of people are leaving due to that (I'm sure other reasons factor in, as well, but that seems to be a pretty big one [reason]).

Crime rates vary from area to area. I live in St. Petersburg, so our crime rates are pretty high (as is our population, so it's a little understandable).

I wouldn't say that FL is the worst place on earth to live. Some people are going to love it, and some people are going to hate it. Some people will just fall into the middle/be indifferent.

Personally, I'm interested in moving to NJ (for school + personal reasons listed in the next sentence). I love it up there, a lot (and I'm originally from Michigan, so I miss the north/seasons). It's not to say that I won't return to FL., because there's always a possibility where it doesn't work out for me in NJ, or I grow tired of it over the years, I decide to retire to another state, or I just miss my family too much to live away from them.

Too many gross exaggerations to even take serious.

I was born and raised on Long Island, left there when I was 46 to come to Florida. I love it. Where I am reminds me of Long Island without the dreary dead winter season. I'm happy. My ulimate dream would be to have a place there and here but since that isn't in the immediate future I would definately stay here in Florida. As far as pay & what you get, it's all relative. I made more up there but it also cost me more to be there.

When I have a break here at work I'll try and find more examples... It would appear there are a lot of jobs in Florida... The pay scale is a whole other issue though...

I don't know if that makes any sense, what are these jobs? They build a new hotel and it creates maybe a 100 jobs but they are just low paying service jobs, nothing you can live on at any kind of decent level.
