Default Buying a car in Florida - UK resident

Hello there,
My wife and I are British and are looking to spend 6 months in Florida each year when I retire next year. We would like to buy a car to use and leave in the garage of our Florida home. I believe that to do this we would need to have Florida driving licences before we could buy a car and to get insurance? Is this the case do you know? Information I am reading suggests it may possible but is conflicting.
Renting cars each visit costs us a fortune so is this possible?
Thanks
Charles

My hubby, the Nissan salesman, said that you do not need a Florida driver's license to buy an auto, but you do need a license of some sort. You will need to show proof of insurance. The vehicle will be registered with the state and a license plate will be issued. The state government website may help some. Here's a link ---> MyFlorida.com - Home
