We have a bunch of well educated members that are looking for jobs, this can be a solution for some.

As a part-time educator myself I can recommend the profession. I would not be a candidate for any state university because I stopped my education at a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and had no desire to go back to school for more. Just wanted to start a business and make things better. That's still a dream of mine, time will tell. Hopefully they find some good math and science teachers for the public schools as this country is in desperate need of such talent. I do have issues with the way schools are administrated, but having good teachers is a start. Just make sure they can afford a decent middle-class lifestyle.

Miami-Dade had, or perhaps still has, a program to attract English teachers. Problem was that they offered a mere $35k a year to teach in some of the most dangerous neighborhoods, a true insult.
What are they proposing to pay college graduates, many of whom will exit university heavily indebted, to teach grade-school math and science?
The article does not say. Of course pay levels could vary by region, but in southeastern Florida at least, any thing less than $65k a year to start would be an insult.
In short, it sounds good, but the devil is in the details and the figures involved could quickly prove incapable of going too far: result, the career still attracts mostly dummies ... sorry
