Southeast Florida: Is it like another country?
Is southeast Florida like being in another country, especially when compared to the rest of Florida?

Dade is like being in another country, the other two counties are like being in another state. (although some will argue that it's like another country). At least 70% of Miami-Dade county is foreign-born. About 30% of Broward and 20% of Palm Beach County are foreign born. The upper two counties are diverse but tip on White non-Hispanic pluralities (with Palm Beach actually a solid white majority), but Dade, in parts, is basically like being in another country (and not at all diverse in parts because of this), for better or for worse.

Broward became a minority majority recently... white people are less than 50% of population.

Well, if "like another country" means that it doesn't look homogenous like Omaha, then yes.
But, since I don't consider "Hispanic" to be a minority group, I wouldn't even write off Broward County under that criteria.
Miami is definitely an "international" city, and in many ways not in a good, New York or London way...
Palm Beach County is quite large, with many different cities and towns and areas, some resembling third world countries, and some rivaling posh European villages. But I would agree that it's definitely at LEAST like "a different state" in Southeast Florida, probably from about Melbourne or Vero Beach South, as South Florida continues to spread "North" as residents flee up the coast.

And this is exactly why, although I like Vero Bch and those areas, I have decided not to move there. How long is it going to take for those areas to turn into some of the bad areas? For me, it's pretty much N FL or I will move back up to the foothills/mountains of NC or SC.

I have been hearing lately that North Carolina is becoming the new Florida. Is that true?

It depends on what your level of depth is. To me, being in a place like Mississippi is like being in another country.

49.9%. This still represent a plurality. It's expected to remain a plurality for the next 25 years. But, whites (non hispanic ughhhhhh) will still be outnumbered...
