Hope you like it. It's not only a cookbook, but a history book as well. I loved Cross Creek too. I've never read or seen The Yearling. Too sad for me.

You said no to Cuban food, as if demographics and local customs cannot change. Im sure the Native Americans in New York were not eating hotdogs, knishes and pizza. Before Cuban food, I would suppose it would have just been southern cuisine and a lot of seafood of course.

She said her family is studying Miami specifically.

To the OP, you cannot make Florida food representing Miami and not cook Cuban or Haitian food. As bpowell stated Cuban food is Miami food.

Miami is north Cuba.
