Large acreage would be south of state hwy 60 from around west of US 17 to around east of US 441
with US 27 thru the middle of the state. A lot more cattle, citrus and sod than farms.

In terms of quality soil, lower land prices and a good growing season minus frosts/freezes largely check out the area around LaBelle in Hendry County.

Well the soil is pretty bad here with the exception of the area south of Lake Okeechobee. It does freeze here at times but as mentioned above, the crops are sugar cane, cattle and a few remaining citrus groves.

Even on the east side headed towards Clewiston and Lake Okeechobee? I seem to recall a good amount of farming happening there.

By the time you get to Clewiston you have been travelling along the lake on the southwest side. That is muck land. Once you get out of Clewiston to hwy 80 it becomes sand and poor soil. The muck area has sod and sugar cane and the sandy areas have some sugar cane but mostly cattle. Even in the sandy areas some lower areas of muck can be found.

Suwannee, Hamilton, Columbia, Madison, Lee Counties...anywhere in North Florida will give you acreage and allow you to keep livestock and grow food.

Live Oak, Lake City, Mayo, White Springs, Wellborn, Branford, Ft. White, Madison, and all those surrounding towns. These are all very well known for having farms.
