It's a grocery store. I find it truly amazing that people act as if there is some huge gap in quality because a store here does not carry your one regional favorite pre-made meal.
People just looking for something to whine about.

Honestly, if they did expand into Florida and kept their typical theme of catering to the region they serve...they also would not have those regional dishes either.

I'm sure that would be blamed on the water as well.

Well I am a loyal Wegmans shopper but there are none in FL.... I am still on their mailing list, but nearest stores seems to be southern VA. There is no grocery store that compares here, not even close. Wegmans is in a class of its own, it is based in Rochester NY. Their bread is beyond anything here, their eggs, there store and prepared items by chefs is unlike any other. There just isn't anything we found close to Wegmans in FL anywhere.

Hey Annie why did you edit my post? That was a real tux that I wore to a prom in 1970. Can't possibly see how that would be offensive.

Hehehe - these posts really make me chuckle - we are all so spoiled - we already have more options than most, but we want IT ALL! I'm in Sarasota, where we already have the BEST Publix's I have ever seen, plus Whole Foods and Fresh Market and soon to have the second Trader Joe's in Florida (in a couple months). This doesn't even account for fresh seafood markets, ethnic and independent bakeries, ethnic stores and gourmet markets.

Anyway, I'm sure Wegman's is nice and all (never been to one), but I honestly have more than I would ever need as far as food shopping goes.

wegman's is great and all but it's the biggest damn grocery store i have ever shopped at they carry so much stuff including all sorts of craft beers and international products to choose from it takes a whole day just to git shopping done! you better bring a list or you might have to trek a quarter mile because you forgot the milk bread or eggs on the other side of the store! I shop at the one in malvern,pa on a side note: being from philly and florida i have to say the publix "sub" is the closest thing i have came across that comes close to a philly hoagie and by far it's the best chain grocery store in florida for service and selection I have a winn dixie a mile from my home but i almost always go to the publix 20 plus miles away in marathon,Fl. I would really like to see a publix in big pine key, fl

The Publix monopoly would never allow Wegman's to access the state. Anyone else find it fishy that the 4th most populated state has just one quality grocery store chain with a significant presence?
