Default Cape Coral vs. Jupiter Farms

My husband and I are located in the midwest and would like to invest in property in South Florida (where I am originally from). We are looking at the Jupiter Farms area (in Martin County), Hardee County and other areas located in South Florida. We would like to buy land to build a home in the future and would prefer (depending on cost) to live closer to to the ocean. I hear Jupiter Farms or Cape Coral is good. Any ideas. I am also looking at the Wauchula area.

Does anyone have ideas?

Thanks

Please don't consider Florida land an "investment". Only buy it if you will use it for your enjoyment enough to justify the cost. Florida land is a very tricky proposition as an investment.

Cape Coral is on the gulf coast and you would get a small lot. Jupiter Farms is on the east coast (ocean), about 6 miles inland, but the lots are 1.25 and up. Jupiter has great schools and is a great quality of life.

There is a huge inventory of houses available all over Florida. Prices are coming down and most likely will continue to do so for years.

Go to realtor dot com, save some properties that look good to you, and watch their prices drop.

My husband and I live in the midwest and just got an awesome deal on a house in Cape Coral. We loved the area, and the people were very friendly.
