Pace, florida
We are moving to Pace Florida, we've already secured our housing and I was wondering if there are anyone on the forums that actually live there? It seems to be a nice small town with good schools. Any first hand info on Pace would be great!

I lived in Pensacola for a while when I attended UWF...the whole area is nice if you are a college student. Honestly after all my friends graduated the town started getting even more boring. However, if you are looking for quiet, Pace is good. I worked at a church in town a lot of nice couples lived in Pace. The families I knew were really nice and down to earth. I also had a friend that lived there but moved due to it being too calm. There are a few things such as Wal-Mart, and other known restaurants like Apples Bees and Hooters...but you are far away from Downtown Pensacola and the beach. The beaches when I was there were gorgeous though. Even after Ivan (hurricane) the beaches still look really nice.

Welcome to Santa Rosa County. Pace is a quite small town in the North side of the county. Is very calm and by many standards a family or community town. I have a few friends that live in the area and they do talk very positive about the community. Taxes and insurance are low compare to central and south part of the state.
If possible, you might want to tell our forum members about your housing experience either purchase or lease. Just to inform on the availability and any positive or negative experience.
Welcome to Northwest Florida....

thanks for the feeddback, there seems to be many houses for rent starting from 700 on up. We wanted a nice quiet town to live in and good school for my son. Pensacola isnt that far away. We looked at several houses and som well lets just say they were in nice neighborhoods but the houses hadnt been taken care of. So shop around is the key words lol We used realtor.com to locate ours.

Hey tert!
I also lived in Pensacola and graduated from UWF like riley (class of 2000 riley). Pace was a hop, skip and a jump across the bay. What's nice about Santa Rosa County is that it still seems to preserve a little bit of that antiquated ma's apple pie feel to it. Now, this also means lots of giant muddy pickup trucks being driven by drunkards, but there is give and take in any situation. As was said before, it is a pretty calm place. If you know you can find a decent job there, off the beach is probably still of reasonable price to rent or buy a home.
If you do get down there, take a drive over to Pensacola and 9 Mile Rd where you will find a great little BBQ place called Ray Cranford's. It is by far my favorite BBQ place on Earth. Watch out for Pensacola though, as the urban sprawl in the past 10 years has been unprecedented. Growth all over the place.

If schooling for your son is what you consider important, than you can't go wrong in Pace. I've had two go all the way through, one went to Chumuckla Elem and Semmes Middle, another went to Pea Ridge Elem and Avalon Middle, and my one currently in Elem is going to Pea Ridge. All of those schools were excellent, but even so, they don't compare to the wonderful High School program we have. The administration there is top notch. We have a senior there now, and one who graduated two years ago. Thanks to the education the first received he got 100% bright futures scholarship (29 on ACT, maxed out math at 36). The county as a whole has ranked in the top five in the state for education as long as I've lived here. It is growing now, so it is going to lose some of its small town feel, but that just means more opportunities are available. I recently had a new house built and am waiting to see if insurance is going up for me as much as others have been saying. Renewal is only a few months away. New subdivisions around Spencer Field and the High School
are offering new homes for sale and for rent. Unfortunately for me, prices
have come down 10-15% since I bought mine this January! But I still considered it a good deal. Welcome to the area. You're joining a lot of new people coming in...
