How about we raise most of the salaries in Florida instead. Customer service and tourism jobs here are a joke while we continually make the rich richer. Most business owners don't even live in Florida and they are making a killing off most of us.

Higher salaries = more income tax. I prefer leaving salaries as-is and cutting property taxes by 100%. As an alternative just get the median home price to , let's say, 90,000.00

You can get a pay raise just by cutting property taxes. You can keep in the bank what you are paying...

"Most business owners don't even live in Florida and they are making a killing off most of us"?

What businesses are you talking about? Most businesses it is all they can do to stay out of the red much less make a killing. How many businesses have you owned? Those low pay service jobs are paid about what they are worth. They are unskilled, require almost no training and can be replaced in a day with another worker. What is the added value they bring to the table that would deserve more money? Those jobs are what they are, the same in any other part of the country. You want to tell me where in the country a bus boy makes $15 or $20 an hour?

I think it is a stupid idea. Lets take money away from a state that DESPERATELY needs more money. The answer is to control the insurance companies and developers and not let them have free reign on this state any more. What other state has NO property taxes? Why do we think that our pathetic state government could pull it off? We can't even vote correctly. Our infrastructure is already not keeping up with the population, get rid of property taxes and see what happens.

You are right, Floridians are too scared to be on the cutting edge. Let's just keep up the status quo and sink into the ocean. A state with NO property taxes would be revolutionary. What happened to all the money that Florida stole from us buy force of property taxes? It was all wasted. It is no secret that I hate big government.

I've worked in timeshare and also a national car rental in sales and if you see the numbers they rake in you'd be astonished and the bosses live in other states. Compare to the money we generate for these companies its almost a modern day slavery.

All I can say is, if you have something to bring to the table that makes you extra valuable you could ask for more money and get it. Apparently they feel the position can be filled by another person with no problem or they would bend over backwards to not lose you.

Exclamation Wacko Alert

I like some of these well thought out quotes:

" Remember how nice Florida was before air conditioning?"

How old are you? 120? Most of the WWII vets are almost gone now (the first wave of assault on Fla.)

"How about we raise most of the salaries in Florida instead. Customer service and tourism jobs here are a joke while we continually make the rich richer"

Make it like New York City! A busboy can make $20/hr but a hamburger costs up to $25.

"Most business owners don't even live in Florida and they are making a killing off most of us"

That must account for about 10-20 local restauraunts that have closed in my town in the last 6 months. They must have made too much money

"I prefer leaving salaries as-is and cutting property taxes by 100%. As an alternative just get the median home price to , let's say, 90,000.00"

If you haven't noticed the prices are dropping faster than the Titanic. Just the "Flip this house" and the 1% ARM idiots are the ones who bought at the top of the pyramid scheme. Besides where else could buy a house for $90K? Syracuse?
