Chicago in the 1920's, NYC since the mid 1800's, Newark NJ, Philadelphia PA. Cities breed crime.

All medium to large cities in Florida have pockets of areas that are crime infested. Believe it or not, the city I am most cautious about is Belle Glade. Belle Glade is a city of 17,XXX people in 4.7 square miles. It is very economically depressed, ran down, poor, and crime infested. Go to Google Streetview and check out areas around MLK/SW 8th Street, SW Avenue D/SW 5th Street, and any other areas near the "Loading Ramp". It is probably the worst city I have ever been in and I am always locked and loaded while passing through. At least 3 people were shot a couple weekends ago and they always seem to have crime problems. IIRC citizens were asking for martial law a couple years ago because the crime was skyrocketing.

This gives the ranking of "most crime per capita" cities in Florida:

11 Of The Nation's 100 Most Dangerous Cities Are In Florida

Interestingly, the city of Ft. Pierce is on the list (St. Lucie County), which abuts Port St. Lucie. Last decade Port St. Lucie received the distinction of "safest city in America" for a number of years.

It's "per capita" so it's weighted towards high-crime places with safer bedroom communities.
There is not one single city on that list in which I would live, but I might live nearby.

It would make more sense to use metropolitan statistical areas instead of city limits.

#1 is East St. Louis, IL, is right across the river from #12 St. Louis, MO.
#4 West Memphis, AR, is right across the river from #14 Memphis, TN.
#2 Flint, MI is a half hour drive from #5 Saginaw, MI, and an hour from #6 Detroit, MI.

The high crime cities on this list are dominated by anti-gun Obamamites.

I'd live in Miami Beach and Orlando, and maybe even Miami (depending on the location).

As it is now I live in-between Riviera Beach and Lake Worth.... both of which do have "good" areas in addition to a lot of bad.

Wasn't too long ago that West Palm used to make all the bad lists, but crime has dropped and is now heavily concentrated in one part of the city in particular (that part which happens to abut Riviera Beach).

All cities--large and small--are dangerous in Florida, helping make it one of the most dangerous states overall.

You can literally be a victim of violent crime anywhere in the state, regardless of whether you're in an urban, suburban, or rural setting. That's why even the safest areas don't feel all that safe.

In most non-Southern states, violent crime--or crime in general, for that matter--in suburban and rural areas is virtually unheard of, but not in Florida.

If you look at the prior postings you will quickly see that the poster knows everything about everywhere and only a couple of places are to his liking. The poster seems to be oblivious to the crime and mayhem that takes place in his own backyard.

Anyone putting any credibility into his posts is not too bright.
