I just find it odd that you wont admit to FL being weird. Its ok, FL isnt perfect.

The poll shows that ppl from all over the US think that FL is BY FAR the "weirdest" state as far as sickos/weird crimes.
FL is no weirder than any place else because weird events take place everywhere at one time or another.

FL's events make the national news because FL is probably the most attractive place in the US.
If something weird happens in weird .oot if the story is covered.

I showed that people gluing their eyelids shut with superglue is a fairly common event. However when it happened in FL it was national news. Why?

If any of these events happened in FL it would be national news....

Dead mouse found in Subway sandwich in Oregon, Police offer marijuana grower counseling in Facebook post, Inmate's mother hid meth, oxycodone in tampons - UPI.com, Eat A 30-Pound Burrito, Own Part Of A New York City Restaurant, Caught On Tape: Naked Woman Trashes Subway Restaurant (NSFW).

But alas none of them made the spotlight.

Its all good for FL because it keeps people interested in FL.

The "only in Florida" thing has become like a cultural phenomena.
The same crap happens across the U.S.
Should be "only in Alaska".
Goddam some off the wall crap goes on there constantly.

Hilarious post from the General US Forum...

"There's a morning radio show in NC... Woody & Wilcox....that plays "did it happen in Florida" every morning; three crazy stories; you have to guess which one happened in Florida. Hint; it's always the craziest one.

The other day it was a story about a homeless guy who was walking around a Publix grocery store using a real human skull (with some flesh still on it) as a puppet...a skull that he claimed he had just found on the sidewalk while walking to the grocery store....."

Those 2 pages of weird NC news is over a 4 yr period, and some of the stories are relatively weak in weirdness. FL takes the cake, and they know that. Plus, they do this "which one happened in FL" daily, so you'd have to go with FL in order to be able to do it so often.

It just pumps up the attention level. Over 80 million vistors a year and 20 million residents. New residents come every day IN DROVES

Florida population surges again after slow growth - Sun Sentinel

I guess not many people are influenced by 'weird news' in FL simply because they know that 'weird news' is eveywhere. Just let the out-of-staters keep causing FL to be on the minds of their people.

It goes beyond sad, and the elderly woman who caused all this wasn't even tested, so typical for FL.

She should have been taken to the hospital and tested to see what meds she is on. She refused treatment, when you cause something like this you shouldn't have a choice.

In FL you can cause all kinds of carnage and loss of life and you get a "citation", and off you go.

Other states, she is going to the hospital and the car is going into police impound, end of story.

This is what happens when you issue DLs for 8 years, not testing of seniors, etc.
