This is a nightmare.
What city are you in?

I've been a part timer for years to Boca in SE Forida. Now I'm converting to full time. With 14 years of being in Florida it's the best run state I've seen. With new Federal Tax Bill passed I expect Florida to pick even more of those from poorly run States that inflate taxes on homeowners. I just drove down from Staten Island, NY the last 2 days, something about entering Floriday boosts the mood. Those who complain about Fl.need to go find their perfect spot..it doesn't exist. Just read an article in the Palm Beach Post about real estate in Florida selling quickly, with low inventory. That's a clear indicator that the Boomers are moving here, great addition to the state. While the OP is a few years old the subject always gets those pro or con to sound of. Put me in the Pro Florida column, too many positives to note without making this a long winded post....

Donít worry. Whatís made up for in taxes is doubled or tripled in homeowners insurance and car insurance.

Not all Boomers are moving to Florida. I worked in Senior Health Care in Denver, CO and it's pretty amazing how many Boomers and older that live in Denver metro.

I make the best of any place, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to be in snow country. I'll be biking, kayaking, running, doing outside yoga, swimming this week...

I think really depends on where you're moving from. Moving from the tourist area (think Liberty Bell, Independence Hall) of Philly to Florida, our car insurance dropped by quite a bit.
