I think there should be a rule here AGAINST posting such links which serve no purpose.
Personally I DO NOT want to read them - I read the news myself, don't need it twice on this forum. And yeah, crime is everywhere -( Nebraska mall shootout anyone?) |

Boca has had a string of crime lately, in August another woman was carjacked at the same mall with a 2 year old in the back seat, forced to go to an ATM and withdrawal cash, luckily both were left unharmed.
Another woman was carjacked, robbed and tied up at Mizner Park. This crime wave is happening at locations that are perceived to be safe, I often see women alone sometimes with kids, driving very expensive cars, talking on their cell phones with a $1500K hand bag around the shoulder, totally oblivious to their surroundings when getting in our out of their cars, especially in Boca and other affluent areas. I think this is a big wake up call, though I'm not implying that this woman was of that kind. |

Yeah crime is everywhere, but going into an area knowing what's in store based on trends and incidents is beneficial. |

Your last sentence said it all. I think its laughable that people will cut and slice statistics and data to make it seem like the crime in Port St. Lucie is comparable to crime in other areas. You can claim that crime is on the 'rise' but you need to take the other factors into consideration: that unlike in other areas where NO action was taken when crime continued to rise, Port St. Lucie (on the otherhand) is taking an active step to curb it.

What the agenda is I don't know but when they post things like, Why do these horrendous crimes keep happening in Florida?, it is clear they already have their own answer. Most people will be able to get a very clear idea of an area by the posts in here. And I really don't have too much of a problem with some news stories being posted but this one was not posted to provoke a discussion, even though it has by default, it was posted to put a black mark on Florida. |

I never said that those places don't have any crime--just not the level and kind of crime that the US has (mainly gun violence). Serial killers and terrorism (unless you live in the middle east) aren't likely to affect the average person.
I've always been under the impression that the world's worst violent crime (and theft) was in the US, some parts of Latin America and Africa. If anyone has hard data to prove me wrong though, go ahead. Quote:

Plenty of parks, plenty of "Hispanic women" (whatever THAT means... my little brother only dates black and Spanish decent girls himself), and "shopping"? Let's face it - everywhere on the treasure coast has the same dearth of shopping options. You won't find good shopping unless you hit Palm Beach County, and only then is it worth it if you can AFFORD the prices it takes to live in an area that's got the good shopping - like Palm Beach Gardens. It's simply NOT worth the proximity to shopping and dining if you have to live in Westgate or Boynton Beach. And if you CAN'T afford to live in the nice places, you're not exactly able to shop on Worth Avenue anyway! Now, if you said, "lack of restaurants," I'll give you that much. But I'm waiting until the 2010 census hits the market analysts desks for restauranteurs. I think they're a bit behind the curve on the immense market that is Port St. Lucie. |

I am not saying that the south is less educated than the north.. I believe in and around the larger cities throughout the south educated people exist in abundance. However, being in such large states with so many pockets that still lack education seems to be more prevalent in the south. Nothing puzzles me more than seeing billboards throughout the south on interstate 95 advertising Adult book and toy stores and Strip joints.. Big billboards... That would never exist up north...never... A level of deviants that is acceptable still exists. Then add warm climate.... to the equation...the heat gets to some peoples brain.. The north is pulling out of nine inches of snow...the climate itself humbles you...
