Ok, in which case, I agree. Any other state would have these same types of stories. Go post them on their respective state forums, and it wouldn't turn into a bi**hathon like this did.

In Florida, they've got the NEW legislation...'The Castle law'
You can NOW shot people for crawling thru your home window....or car window.....or somebody carrying a big stick, coming at you...
Tell all the tourist to be careful in the State of Florida...
A couple of years ago...some Chinese kid got shot, because he didn't understand the language...They told him to stop, and he didn't....
WELL HE DID!!!! >>>A bullet stopped him<<<<
"IF"" everybody was 'packin', I think people would get more respect....
There'd be none of that diss'en stuff.....
You'd say, Yes Mam!!! & No Sir!!!
And you wouldn't go flippin people the bird....Get your finger shot off @ 20 paces!!!!
Yes Sir!!! You could make lots of money owning stock in bullet companies!!!

Now, when I go north of DT Ft. Myers and see Dunbar, with its bombed-out looking buildings and vacant shopping centers, yeah, hell-hole comes more readily to mind. In Ft. Myers, it depends big-time if you are on the north or south side of town. Two different worlds. Maybe the Edison home would be right on the border of those two zones, around Edison Mall........very split city for sure........I could live on Sanibel 24/7 for years, and never get on the 6 buck TB and leave. All I need is those grocery stores, those couple cool bars and restaurants, and a nice lanai to chill in the back.....I could live without it, but I could also live IN south ft.myers very happily if I HAD to......and I do....but I would prefer Sanibel if money was no object....

Its strange to hear the term Cape Coral Beaches, Cape Coral has a small beach (man made on the river) but thats by the pier. But like you said you have small pockets of nice areas in lee county.

Right, it was the man made one with the new pier.....I like that outdoor deck, and really just go down there to drink beer on the deck and take a stroll down the pier....never fished off it, though they sell bait and rent rods in that food shoppe on the deck...

Citizens' Insurance in trouble
I don't see the news thread anymore, so I posted this here--it's not about murders and crime, so I hope this is ok.
How will this scandal affect homeowners?

Chills are running up my back to the back of my head. The light at the end of the tunnel is nowhere in sight which is frightening. Thank you for sharing this vital piece of information. There's just no end to this debacle and its impact.

My opinionated view of Fort Pierce, Florida

Wow! I do not considered Fort Pierce to be a "war zone". Although, we have our fair share of "crap", I certainly would not classify all activity that occurs in Fort Pierce as the "crap" mentioned in another post.
I must say that although my opinion is an honest one, it is highly biased and limited. I was born in Fort Pierce in 1969 and left briefly to attend school. I returned to live in Fort Pierce and work in Port St. Lucie.
I do agree that there are some problems areas in Fort Pierce. It is my opinion that most crimes occur in concentrated areas and are related to drugs, poverty, and other social problems. And, the stigma is attached to all of Fort Pierce.
The northwestern section of Fort Pierce is predominately comprised of African American families. Central Fort Pierce has it all; including a rich ethnic mixture of Latin Americans, Haitian Americans, and African Americans--although there are some pockets of the city that are referred to as "Little Haiti" or "Little Mexico" because of their concentrated cultures.
Still, there are other areas where some professionals and the wealthy reside: these areas could be predominately white or black.
Furthermore, there are areas considered to be rural where one can find many ranches, horses, and cattle. Orange groves are dwindling due to land sales to developers or diseases that affect oranges or their trees.
I'm sure I have not covered it all.
Unless one intends to "camp out" in the high crime areas of Fort Pierce, I do not foresee any difficulties with visiting Fort Pierce, Florida. I strongly discourage anyone from visiting the high crime sections of Fort Pierce. If the poor had the means to do so, they would moved away a long time ago.
Living in Fort Pierce is definitely not for everyone--neither is any one location. Fort Pierce has a terrible reputation; however, I still believe most of the blame points to crime in povertry-stricken areas, neglect, and other social problems.
With that said, if you are searching for a city that already has its act together and has progressed consistently, Fort Pierce would not be the first place that comes to mind.
There exist some beautiful people and beautiful areas of Fort Pierce.
Sincerely,
MsFtPierceFL

Ft Pierce is going to become more popular as people head north to escape Miami. It's best to get in on the ground floor now and buy something there.
