The rate is very misleading. Most of Tallahassee is very safe, especially the suburbs. I would guess that the vast majority of the crime occurs in a relatively contained area around the campuses and south of of downtown. The rest of town is pretty quiet, and can state from personal experience that crime in my NE quadrant neighborhood is virtually non-existent.

It was probably domestic just like that incident in Davie (in a similar type area) However, home invasions can and do happen anywhere, and this is not a South Florida exclusive...in fact home invasions occur a lot less frequently down here than a lot of other major cities. There is one seemingly every day in Orlando and Atlanta.

I love how you say "not anymore" like it was really better 10 years ago...anyone who was alive 10 years ago realizes it was actually worse, and in the 80s forget it! FL used to be the most dangerous state, and now it's at least off of the top five.

Only when it's a slow week, if we were talking about the horoscope.
That being said, common or not common, this incident is still disgusting. My heart goes out to the family.

Thats just up the road from my house
I hope the gal will be ok, she is a young Mother.
Moments like this makes me glad for my three dogs and two "watch geese".
I will NOT let this incident change my opinion of this lovely area.
