I would have expected an article written by a local realtor to be a bit more positive about the areas attributes. Quite disappointing.

You can sprinkle gold leaf on dung, but it's still dung.

Old article

Quote:
Higher-end boutiques, upscale restaurants like La Crepe en Haut and John D. Rockefeller’s former winter-home-turned-cultural-center, The Casements, are found along Granada Boulevard on the beach side of Ormond Beach, the area’s most afi uent neighborhood.
La Crepe has been closed for YEARS!

Daytona is really not that bad. I like all the tall condos vs the old beach motel look of other beach towns.

Sure some, ok a lot, of Daytona is trashy, but then there are the gems like Ormond, Wilbur, and Ponce, which are all part of the Daytona Beach experience when I go.

Having spent time both in Melbourne and Daytona, MLB > DAB any day of the week. Better economy, better schools, less trashy and cleaner beach areas, better downtown etc. No trashy bike week/nascar elements. They are both comparable otherwise in terms of feel and population

Bike Week is sexy imo. Nothing sexier than a 30-something biker with tattoos. It's a fun week in my mind.
