It`s fine if someone does not like Florida it`s not for everyone, Its the constant whoa is me Florida is making my life miserable it is the worst place on earth attitude that I feel is irritating people. Also some of the people who hate florida act as if everyone should agree and get upset if people don`t hate it here.
Also it is only natural for people to get defensive about somewhere they call home. What did you expect?

Exactly, it makes total sense for people to be passionate about talking positive about the state they call home and enjoy.
Those that hate it can easily leave. Sure they might have to be the lowest price house on the street to sell. They may even take a loss.
But they have about 80% of the country that is rural and/or cold, with cheap costs of living. If they truly hate Florida they could move to rural Montana, upstate NY, the midwest, the northwest, etc. In those places they could make ends meet with very little income.
Especially when you read posts about a husband and wide that both hate it....it is very easy to leave since both are in agreement, perhaps lose a little money on the house sale, but get paid in happiness by being away from a state they "hate".
Seems to me that would be the smart move for them....sell at any cost, move somewhere cheap, and be done with it.

That's kinda morbid.

Yeah, because nobody on here ever whines about the Northeast or Midwest or like, the weather in Ohio or anything while pyning and longing for the day when they finally move to "paradise", right??? These people aren't mal-adjusted or putting too much hope and/or blame on locations for their ultimate happiness, isn't that so??? They're just smart people with a good heads on their shoulders biding their time until circumstances align to allow them to do the "right thing" and move to Florida.
Meanwhile anyone who utters ne'er a bad word about the state is mercilously interrogated as to why they don't throw all their crap on a moving van and leave tonight, because they're all psychotics who don't have lives or anything that require sorting out before moving.
Oh the double-standard is QUITE evident.

Lots of opinions (positive and negative) about the state. I will ask: Is there a perfect location? Will everyone like cold or heat, flat land or mountains, beaches or rivers, etc...
My opinion: Is up to you to make it the best or worst place. We as individuals have to adjust to the locale or move. For me is that simple, I don't worry about the heat and hurricanes because I don't have control over it. I visited many of our states and maybe 15 other countries in the world and many of these locations have some type extreme weather:
Iceland: lost of snow, windy 12 months of the year. (12months)
Cold lake Canada: Cold place, but beautiful sceneries (3 months during winter)
Saudi Arabia: just plain hot, dusty and a huge beach front (6 months during summer)
Brazil: superb place, hot, humid, beautiful beaches, awesome rain forest (2 months the best)
Panama; rains almost every day, but another beautiful country (4 years)
Iraq: lots of demolition on going, ( 6 months)
Afghanistan: plenty of bullets--(3 months)
Kuwait: the water hole (3 weeks)
Baharain: a paradise in the middle east, bigger water hole (6 weeks)
Oslo Norway: Snowed like crazy, friendly people love their culture (2 months)
In my 22 years in the USAF, I move 7 times with my family, never had a choice of an assignment, but we made the best of each place:
Ogden Utah
Republic of Panama
Satellite Beach Fl/Cape Canaveral
Homestead
San Antonio
Grand Forks ND
Iceland
and Navarre (almost 10 years)
The above locations had extreme weather front heat to cold, from rain to mud slides, from blizzards to volcanoes, from hurricane to earthquakes, from fires to city drowning rivers.
We experienced all and we had to adapt....If the location does not favor your need, then consider relocation or adapt and overcome. Many time the situations force many to adapt and overcome. My two cents...

To many, venting frustrations helps to "overcome" major issues one might have with something including a dissatisfaction with where they live, so I agree with you 100% on that.
I was personally "stuck" in Florida with a wife that did not want to leave, so I understand fully the frustration that people let loose on this board and certainly get exasperated with these simpletons who simply say, "Well if you hate it so much, move!!!" (These same people probably complain constantly about their boss at work, yet don't quit their jobs.. )
Having been in a situation where that wasn't exactly possible without marital strife or divorce, it does torque me a bit when people get up on their high-horse and suggest this as though it's all so simple.....
If everyone would just stick to the "to each their own" addage this wouldn't be a problem. I mean why on Earth would someone so ga-ga over Florida and unwilling to hear any negatives open a thread that's titled (for instance), "Why I Hate Florida" ??? It baffles me.
Certainly at times there will be disagreements of opinion and I certainly don't get why when someone complains about icy roads up north that others feel it necessary to post a picture of the Hurricane Andrew aftermath and such. Each location has it's own risks.... It will never be resolved. I honestly see Florida as a large spance of boiling hot asphalt and stripmalls with it's soul beauty being beaches which, quite frankly, I believe every state on the East Coast can match.... I find cypress swamps hot sticky and disgusting with slime and alligators and things I don't particularly find beautiful.... All this is how I feel and will never see it the way others on here do and that's okay...... On the contrary people see where I've moved to be a region full of uneducated hicks that gets too cold with icy, nasty winters that freeze all life to a standstill, whereas I see it as a land of mountainous beauty that offers a different aspect of it's natural beauty every three months with people that are simple and nice, just for the sake of being nice and no amount of me saying this will EVER convince some to see it that way either....
An exercise in futility that will probably continue on forever I suppose and understanding that I still feel compelled to jump in every now and then..

Hi, VB! I agree with one of VAFury's later posts in that it's not a matter of having to choose one of two extremes. In fact, this very platform, "city-data.com" is proving to be a wonderful tool in my research for determining a geographical location which might prove to be most suitable for me. (Thanks, c-d.com!)
I've had 48 years to get to know myself, and honestly, I've found moderation and balance, coupled with a good dose of variety, to be fulfilling keys in all aspects of my life. 'Doesn't have to be extreme; just spicy, from time to time.
So, back to Florida: it's like a fast-food joint: it instantly satiates the appetite and the menu never changes. One can count on it to offer the same junk over and over again: nothing new; same bland flavors: hot and humid. (One exception: hurricanes [and I don't mean the beverage]. That's one bit of variety right up there with the colonoscopy.)
Many community pools are heated to almost 90-degrees Fahrenheit. (The walking cadavers think anything less than that is "chilly"!) Of course, the "Florida Wound-Care Centers" must love this, since the bacteria in these pools can multiply like wildfire and infiltrate their boo-boos like crazy!
Anyway, I digress. It has never been my intention to offend anyone. Thanks to all for your opinions, whether we agree or disagree. May freedom of speech continue to be upheld by the great Constitution of our United States.
