ROFLMAO!!! I totally forgot about that.... How many times I made snide remarks to my wife about that.... "Gee look honey, they're blowing those pesky leaves out of our way so our car won't be harmed striking them!!! Of course they're blowing them upwind and we'll see them all again in 5 minutes, but hey, who am I??? "

I feel sorry for anyone that has to live here or anywhere else that is making them unhappy. While sometimes the comments on this forum seem so over the top, I do understand why some feel the way they do.
As a native, I feel that Florida is really like two states - north and south Florida, with the dividing line running from Tampa/St. Pete on the West through Vero on the East, and then you would have to throw that horrible Orlando in with the "South" even though its central.
I lived in SW Florida and hated it - I hated the hot weather there (yes, it IS a lot hotter there!), the transient quality, the weird people, the crime, the red tide, and the exotic invasive vegetation which constantly made me sick. So I can see how many would feel miserable if they live in these areas.
However, we moved from there to Dade City north of Tampa, where there are hills and almost no palm trees and it even has a little change of seasons, and enjoyed the rural living for 10 years, now we have moved to Lakeland, which is inland and part of the uplands and think it is the nicest town in Florida, at least for US. It has a beautiful climate here, breezes in the summer from the lakes, and cool but not too cold for winter. And it's drop dead gorgeous. So, bottom line, we are HAPPY here in Florida now, where we were absolutely MISERABLE in SW Florida. The people are very, very different there than here - this is a real community, and I think that is what a lot of folks are missing.
I hope that all of you who hate it here can do your best to make the best of things until you can move, or if you have to stay in Florida, maybe you can find another city or town that is a better fit for you. It sucks to be miserable, believe me I know, since I was miserable for 17 years in SW Fla. which was just not a good fit for us (although it may be great for many others).
Have a great day all, I almost feel guilty being so happy!

I love your posts gypsychic because from your experiences, you found your way to happiness. In the true meaning of Christmas, I hope everyone on this forum finds their place to call home for the holidays...a place they can be proud of, live well, and and be happy. I know that is a tall order, but I truly hope so especially for those who are in a place they really are not happy with.

There could be a drought rendering negative grass-growth. But the mowers will be out there, to cut the brown stuff down to sand.
Of course, we should be sending out kudos to these workers, as these are jobs that politicians tell us that Americans won't perform.
For those who look forward to their serene cup of coffee on their Florida lanai in the morning, seriously consider delaying insertion of your hearing aid(s) until the little men are out of sight.

You lose me a little bit, what is the incentive for your postings? Are they therapeutic in some way? I don't see any posting by you on other state forums. Wouldn't it be a better use of time to try to get on with your life then spend your time here doing this? Your postings are beginning to take on a very unhealthy flavor as you try to paint yourself as some kind of victim. You know, the guys with the blowers and mowers have just as much right to be here as you do. You want the right to be here but don't want anyone else to have the same right. It doesn't work like that.

Great for you, Gypsyhic. SWFL is its own entity that we always felt was much more different than the rest of the state. Due to company relocation, we would have been out of SWFL even if not by choice & told we would be in Davie, FL or Jax. Thankfully, things worked out for us the way that fit our needs & we are in a better place.
It's a big state with lots of different places & people. People just have to find their "niche" & for some, that takes longer than for others & they have to go over some more speedbumps along the way

The majority of the world's population lives in a tropical, sub-tropical, or desert climate. Having four very distinct seasons is actually abnormal, if you want to use labels.

I would think Macguy might have be referring to this sort of over the top rhetoric when he used his terminology.

Not as frequently, but yeah. If you have zero interest in ever living where it snows again then it's probably not for you.... The poster I was responding to expressed a desire to see it again but was a bit leery of the Northeastern winters which is why I made this suggestion. As far as I'm aware you're either moving to, or have already moved to Florida, so I'm unsure how you mistook my post to be intended for you...

I'm in the "no snow ever again" category, unless I'm watching it fall on TV
