Default New License Plate for Florida (Proposed)

State Representative Pat Patterson is proposing legislation that would offer a different version of the standard state tag. Buying a basic license plate with the state motto, "In God We Trust,'' at the bottom of the tag. That is your view?

I don't have a problem, this will allow greater choices for the state residents and will display our state motto.

Currently, the tag has "Florida'' written across the top of the tag with either the county name or the state nickname, "Sunshine State,'' at the bottom.

Have you been to the tag office to see how many different plates are available for Florida? Its really bizarre and must be somewhat difficult for law enforcement to keep track of.

I don't think any states needs another way for bible beaters to display their feelings.

I am an atheist, I would like to believe I live in a state that is tolerant of my belief system. I don't WANT to be staring at the bible beater motto even on the road as I travel.

I LOVE it how religious people only believe in seperation of church and state when it benefits them.

Lindsey- Can we agree on "some" religious people?!

I can see it as a specialty plate, but not as the basic FL tag. It would be yet another way to divide us.

I think "The Sunshine State" works just fine.

(I have the John Lennon tag- Imagine!)

Just a reminder that as you has a view others have other views and we must respect. Some might not have a problem.

Info for all. This is not a religious thread, just a simple question with an answer in the poll.

Thank you.

If you can't answer the poll, please don't try to make this a religious controversial issue. Is simple, just answer the poll and move on.

Thank you and Happy New Year....

I think it's a good idea. Florida is all about the almighty dollar so why not adopt the same motto.

I voted no.
I agree with HIF--just one more way to divide us; it's already happening in this thread.
I have the Challenger-Columbia Space Shuttle plate (it's my kid's former plate, long story).
