THIS^^^^ to the nth degree! California is a huge state, and other than a thin band along the coast, much of the rest of it is backward and ugly. I thought Bakersfield was one of the ugliest places I had ever seen in my life - and it is polluted as hell, too.

To me, I don't see the "ideal weather" always touted for SoCal, either - the beaches are cold and windy, there are the heavy, hot Santa Ana winds, (many people cannot even sit outside on their property) June Gloom, heavy fogs, etc. Lack of rain and seasons - I could go on and on. It is definitely NOT some perfect mecca. And it costs a fortune to live anywhere along the coast (or even inland) compared to Florida.

Florida may not be perfect, but to me I live in a bargain paradise - I cannot believe how well me and my husband can live here for relatively low cost. I am not going to reiterate what I love here, I have done that many times already. I definitely AM glad not everyone wants to live here. The secret is getting out about what a great place to live this actually is. And there is something for everyone, small town to bigger city - rural or beaches, and inland even some rolling land and small hills! I am grateful for this beautiful state and will be here until I die!

Well, good for you..... if you think Florida is so bad, then I'd question why you even have to visit there. Whatever floats your boat, of course, but if I hated a place as much as you go on and on about hating Florida, I'd do my best to forget about it and move on with my life. I certainly wouldn't include the name, like it or not, in my screen name, (as you have done, Not_liking _FL) and I wouldn't take every opportunity I could to bash the state, and let everyone know, ad nauseum, how much I'd hate it...

What you do smacks more of obsession..... just sayin'.....

Lets get something straight, woman. 1) Show me one post where I've used the word "hate" when describing Florida. 2) If I was on CD every opportunity bashing Florida you probably would've read one of my post about how I have interest in state. I'm in Florida far more than I care to be, and some of it is beyond my control. 3) Florida is one of the many sub-forums where I post on CD. You are out of your mind if you think I just come on this forum to bash Florida.

Your own obsession being Florida's most vocal cheerleader is getting old. If you don't like my post feel free to put me on ignore.

Just pointing out your silliness to you- as I repeat, 1) No one should live where they hate living, so good for you that you don't, 2) if you hate ( or "don't like", your preference) a given area as much as you state over and over and over and over and over again in reference to Florida, I still wonder why you feel you must continue to dwell on it, and take every opportunity to say so on in forums. Seems to me you'd be happier just forgetting about the Sunshine State than dwelling on it to that extent, but hey, that's just me.

As for being a FL cheerleader, that's a laugh, as I've stated, one should live where they're happy, and I'd agree that Florida is not for everyone- although the same could be said of any location. IMO, if you can love where you live, warts and all, that's the ideal.

If you don't like what *I* have to say, then you feel free to ignore my comments. Matters not one whit to me what you do, sweetums........and if I've hit a nerve with you, then deal with it, it's not my problem. I stand by what I said.....

This has been the mildest summer here I've seen in years (can Floridians say the same.....hell no, it's always hot & humid there), we had very few oppressive days (thank God), & while many Floridians are dealing with their Love Bug plaque in Sept we've hardly seen any bugs this summer which is highly unusual but who's complaining. While I've always thought of FL as a great place to vacation but not as a place to live I'll take the change of the seasons over hot, steamy, sweltering, humid conditions you suffer 7-9 months. I could care less about sunshine if it means I have to deal with a over bearing hot sun, gray cloudy days in the summer is ok by me, keep'um coming. Oh btw, before any of you harp on snow & ice, yeah we get that but primary in Jan & Feb, 2-3 snow storms is the norm, blizzards & ice storms in my region are seldom. Cold weather........ya better believe we get cold weather & sometimes brutally cold, like 10* but that hits us rarely. However even cold weather has it's benefits, we become bug-free (Yeah!), it purifies the air & kills airborne virus's, & the air is fresh & crisp. I have to run my gas heater typically from Nov-March & yes those gas heating bills are a b*tch! Then it's smooth sailing until June when it gets hot. Btw I can't wait to return to Universal Studio's, we really enjoyed that & the dinner theaters in Orlando.
What's Love Bug plaque?

I lived in Florida for about 20 years and the only problem I saw with the state is that it's geared more towards retired folks and a lot tougher to make it for young working families

Being in the service I've also lived in Germany, Washington State, Virginia since 2006, and was born and raised in New York.

Florida has some nice places, I think the state just needs to refocus it's future and bring in better jobs and higher pay for it's skilled work force.

Retirement and tourism is not something strong to base your economy on.

But it does or you wouldn't continue to be offended by my post. You and a couple others on here continue with the same nonsense post. It makes me wonder sometimes if you're all the same person.

Too funny...this is the comment left when this dude rep'd me.
To help you out a little...the answer is none of the above.

To expand upon my post...we were also thinking how horrible it would be for you to live here again.
