I am thinking about relocating to Florida somewhere. I just came back from a brief visit of Florida (Miami, FtLauderdale area).

I like the weather, beaches and everything.

What I am looking at is an affordable area, with bunch of young people. Where I went were all old retirees. Safe area is must. Beach must not be further than 20 minutes ride, preferably in walking distance.

Anyone can recommend anything?

The beachside geezer belt is Southwest Florida starting in Sarasota and going south from there, with a little more youth in the Ft. Myers area. Anywhere else along the populated coast is going to have a decent under-30 population.

Jacksonville would be a good option. The average age of the population is 34 years old, it has a large number of safe areas to choose from, some very nice beaches and is the most affordable big city in Florida. Check out Neptune Beach and Jacksonville Beach specifically.

It starts in St. Pete (coastal St. Pete is all retirees) although downtown has some younger population.

Anyway, it's not like even these cities including where I live (Sarasota) have no young people. There are colleges here. I would say the oldest population starts SOUTH of Sarasota (Venice-Naples). It is incredibly old down there.

We're in Bradenton...We need more young people to do all the minimum wage service jobs that us retirees need...So...Come on down...

The thing about Florida is that is a very transient place so people are always constantly moving here and moving away then back again. Not even the retirees stay that long sometimes some end up moving to Arizona or North Carolina. So I think if you say towards the southeast coast , central Florida, North Florida(Jacksonville), Tampa, St Pete are good up and coming areas with lots of young people moving their.

I hate to break it to you but you basically asked for a unicorn. Affordable, safe, full of young folks and walking distance to the beach. It's just not realistic. If you're willing to be a short commute to the beach you might be able to find something.

They still allow young people in Florida. I thought you had to be 65 to move to Florida?

Jacksonville is an interesting City. I grew up here and we have a little of (almost everything) but nothing that would WOW! anyone. Miami and the surrounding areas has a ton to do and the keys are right around the bend. Orlando has the tourist trade and traffic! OMG the traffic! Tampa is like Jacksonville but with Busch Gardens and better/cleaner ocean. Tallahassee is a NOPE!
