Would like some opinions of local Floridians? If we wanted to buy a home for retirement (and would live 6 months in NC & 6 months in FL)...taking into consideration weather (probably very similar), crime, healthcare, culture, taxes & car insurance (if anyone knows)...which would be the better place to buy & why (in your opinion)?

Thank you,

J

I would recommend Stuart over Indialantic for a few reasons. Stuart is going to offer more to do with a much nicer downtown area, a good assortment of restaurants/shops, a generally nicer housing stock and a resident base a good bit more culturally involved in terms of the arts, etc. than Indialantic if that's what you're referring to in terms of "culture". I don't think you're going to see any difference in crime as both are deemed safer places to live or in terms of car insurance rates. Property tax will be the only variable and differs by property versus location of either town.

Thank you for your reply. We kinda thought that too...and Stuart is only about 30 min or so (non-rush hour) to West Palm Beach and 1hr 15min to Ft Lauiderdale and 2hrs to Miami. Indialantic is near Melbourne which is a cute small city but only close to Orlando (1 hr) but have never been a fan...no disrespect to anyone from Orlando. To touristy for us.
