Soon, she will be ready for her new job in healthcare, and she loves it! They will be moving here to Florida, as healthcare is so strong here in Northwest Florida.
One must take personal responsibility for one's lifes choices. If you can't hack it, don't blame society, blame your own ignorance to the trends.

Good luck to your friend! Just fyi, she will be making far less money as a nurse and working twice as hard as she ever has, but money isn't everything. I know, I am a nurse, looking to relocate to Florida and I've been told they don't pay as well as NJ, but I am willing to trade that for no winters! By the way, we seem to have an epidemic of unwillingness to take responsibility in this country. I know people who complain about money but they have new cars, plasma TVs, the best cell phones money can buy, the highest cable package, they eat out constantly, buy Prada purses, etc, etc. That doesn't mean that economically things are easy in this country, but I went back for my nursing degree after graduating from college and finding my job prospects dim. I saw that it was a growing field and gave up 2 more years of my life to become a nurse as well as income for those 2 years and I had to take out loans. Life is about choices. If you can't make a living, it is time to choose to make a change and be willing to make sacrifices in life (I know, this is a novel concept). Cut back on your cell phone and cable plans. Increase the deductible on your car and homeowner's insurance. Eat out less. Use coupons. Shop sales. Brown bag your lunch. But a cheap car and keep it forever (I'm up to 6 years with mine). Don't buy designer handbags. Buy less clothing. Turn off lights when you are not using them. Keep your heat set low at night, and increase the temp of your AC unit when you can. Go back to school at night like my father did when he had 3 kids already and was working 2 jobs. I have no patience for complainers/whiners. Let's face it, I'll never be rich, but I'll always be working!!!

I just moved from massachusetts 3 weeks ago and guess what??? IT IS NO BETTER THERE... OR Conn, or N.H., or NY... Shall I go on. I see a difference in Florida and how it is, but anyone and everyone knows, it's all over. Watch the news once in a while California has the biggest foreclosure rate out there, then iowa, FL, so on.....
So sitting there bashing FL. is not smart.

Well
1. I think you all need to stop watching the news.
2. The new england states are significantly safer and probably more economically sound than Florida...for a price.
3. I'm one of the "positive people", but we are in for a ride. Not because of rude people, crime, crime, rude people crime, illegals, Hispanics, crime crime but because our state wasn't built to sustain something the media isn't tracking.

I agree, it's not as good here as it was 2-3 years ago. I can see that. BUT I have experienced the New England states also, and there are a LOT of foreclosures, houses for sale, not many jobs. It was never like that up there in the years past. PLUS to rent a house or apartment up there is $800 to $1500 a month, then $600+ a month for heating oil. I have to argue that not only Florida is going downhill... What is the threat of a recession only here in Florida? I don't think so.

AND the New England states are safer? I lived in western Mass, Holyoke, and Sprigfield have a higher crime rate that Boston. Murders every day, gangs, you name it. And they are 1/4 the size. Crime is all over, there is no perfect place.

You can thank the voters who voted for ammendment 1 for contributing to the mess. Services have already started to become negatively affected and things are only going to get worse.
