One of my friends significant other was a stripper in a major metro. She changed her life, got out of the adult entertainment industry (where she was making VERY good money) to train to be a nurse. Soon, she will be ready for her new job in healthcare, and she loves it! They will be moving here to Florida, as healthcare is so strong here in Northwest Florida.
One must take personal responsibility for one's lifes choices. If you can't hack it, don't blame society, blame your own ignorance to the trends.

Good luck to your friend! Just fyi, she will be making far less money as a nurse and working twice as hard as she ever has, but money isn't everything. I know, I am a nurse, looking to relocate to Florida and I've been told they don't pay as well as NJ, but I am willing to trade that for no winters! By the way, we seem to have an epidemic of unwillingness to take responsibility in this country. I know people who complain about money but they have new cars, plasma TVs, the best cell phones money can buy, the highest cable package, they eat out constantly, buy Prada purses, etc, etc. That doesn't mean that economically things are easy in this country, but I went back for my nursing degree after graduating from college and finding my job prospects dim. I saw that it was a growing field and gave up 2 more years of my life to become a nurse as well as income for those 2 years and I had to take out loans. Life is about choices. If you can't make a living, it is time to choose to make a change and be willing to make sacrifices in life (I know, this is a novel concept). Cut back on your cell phone and cable plans. Increase the deductible on your car and homeowner's insurance. Eat out less. Use coupons. Shop sales. Brown bag your lunch. But a cheap car and keep it forever (I'm up to 6 years with mine). Don't buy designer handbags. Buy less clothing. Turn off lights when you are not using them. Keep your heat set low at night, and increase the temp of your AC unit when you can. Go back to school at night like my father did when he had 3 kids already and was working 2 jobs. I have no patience for complainers/whiners. Let's face it, I'll never be rich, but I'll always be working!!!
