How big is the bubble? How big is the burst?
What prices to expect for oceanfront 1-2 bed condos in Florida in 2008-2009? Will prices return to 2000-2001? Should I sell now or wait?
Thanks.
Mark.

There are two factors involved. The falling home prices and the falling value of the dollar. Oddly enough, the value of the dollar is falling faster than home prices on average.

And guess what? IT'S NOT ONLY FLORIDA... I was up in Massachusetts, my home state, for 7 months, and it is bad up there too, not as bad as here(FL). But it was not like that up there my whole life, it was always a thriving area(MA). I see houses for sale on every street, and foreclosure signs all over even in Mass., so lets not throw stones at one state, yes it sucks EVERYWHERE....

I'm renting the house I'm in, it's a lot cheaper to rent this house, than pay insurance, taxes, upkeep, etc., especially now. At $875 a month it's a bargain!!!! And I still have the feeling like i have my own home. Plus having a good owner is a big plus, he takes care of this place like you wouldn't believe. If I rented this place in Massachusetts, I would be paying $1400 a month easily, and on top of that if it had oil heat $600+ a month. Yes it's pretty bad out there with our economy, but what can we do about it? it makes more sense to pay for Iraq, than help our people here in the US....

I was going to say the same thing. After a while you get sick of seeing all the whiners on here, hating Florida, but I say if you really dislike it here so much, WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE??? I was complaining about FL., I moved, and found the grass is not greener, I came back... I see alot of people living in Florida, and all they do is complain, have you thought about moving??? You'll see it's no better anyplace else.

And if the economy is so miserable, I would rather deal with it where it is warm, right here in Florida.

this just in from Hank Fishkind world, latest quotes..."the market isnt moving down very much now,nor is it moving up. "Florida is not over,Florida is different. "Already I believe we can see the shape of the bottom" another quote from an "expert" "we believe theres light at the end of the tunnel, but we dont know how long the tunnel might be" the paper that interviewed this clown even admitted hes constantly wrong,so why do they still quote him???only thing I would advise is moving him from the finance section to the comedy section, otherwise someone might take his forecast (jokes),for reality and do something dumb like buy a house.
