The small town of Debary actually has small mountains and is the highest elevation in all Florida.

Highest elevation in Florida being around 340'. I'm sure there are many buildings taller than that.

Note California is a great State as is Florida. California as many problems as does Florida. It comes down to personal desires and needs and of course abilities. Not to mention something is happening in California where more people leave than move there. Increased growth is through birth.

As for me, being a good hubby I moved my wife, also a native Californian, out of the State because she was tired of no real seasons and the traffic and expense.

I hated the traffic especially when trying to get to a decent beach and then finding a parking place. Mind you Florida is not great in all areas as to beach access either, but better than Southern California.
So you moved to Florida b/c you wanted seasons? That does not compute....

Note how the guy promptly disappeared after this blunder. Probably doing some research to prove there's mountains in FL(perhaps piling dirt somewhere in excess of 340' feet to qualify as a small mountain.)

Since you're down there, you have those giant helicopter-sized mosquitoes that fly around you. The everglades look like puke in a handbag, and the everglade mountains look like West Virginia, and gross/not tropical. Southern California has beautiful icy mountains, and desert mountains. Oh yeah, California has a desert, so it has dry heat, not the nasty Florida heat. Plus, California has better waves and such. The only thing Florida has against California is affordability in terms of living. People just go to Florida because 50% of the population lives on the very eastern side of the U.S., and it's just more affordable to travel to Florida. plus florida is too conservative. California is always going to be more expensive, and that's why people don't go, although they know they would like to.
"Affordability" is relative, as I always say not everyone is hurting for money here or in CA. If you work for PBFR as an example you can live beyond your means in South Florida with ease but if you work in other industries it will be either feast or famine, mostly famine on average. Same can be said about CA, it just all depends on what you do and what your cash flow is.

I have never been bothered with the climate in South Florida, I do prefer a Mediterranean Climate and I'll be getting plenty of it when I move to Sonoma County in February, but I'm still coming back here once a month and will have the best of both worlds...

Sorry, I do not live in FL right now, just own property. Looking to move down in a few years, so I keep an eye on this forum.
