Housing has gone crazy in the past 2 years!!!!! Everything is very expensive. We built our home 2 years ago for 193,000 and a similar home down the street sold for 362,000. Crazy. Lots of apartment buildings are being turned into condos ... from the mid 100s and up. Orlando has plenty of jobs ... just not a bunch of affordable housing!! Best of luck!!

There is nothing wrong with Sanford, I have friends who just bought a town home there and they love it. Sanford has spent tons of money on fixing up their water front and to improve the towns appeal.
Other areas you may like are, Orlando proper, as in the down town area like around Thorton Park and Colonial Dr area, or Altimonte Springs around Crains Roost Park area, just off I-4. I guess you are seeking an apt at 1st so those are areas that young people tend to live. Down town Orlando is not very hip but the rents there match its new lofty image.
Good luck in your relo plans!
