Hey everyone,

I will be traveling with my girlfriend for 6 days in Florida and wanted some opinions on nice places to visit. Since it will be a quick hop in each city, we wanted to make sure to visit the nice places in Tampa and St. Augustine.

Our itinerary:
  • Boca Raton: December 30 - drive to Orlando
  • Orlando: December 30 thru January 1st - New Year's at Epcot Center, will be staying at Lake Buena Vista Hotel
  • Tampa/St Petersburg: January 1st thru 2nd - Staying in Downtown Tampa, have no idea what to visit
  • St. Augustine: January 2nd thru 4th - Staying close to the highway, but close driving distance to St. Augustine Historic Area, have no idea what to visit

Wanted some opinions from Florida pros on where to visit/eat, etc, especially in Tampa and St. Augustine.

I lived in Southeast Florida about 6 years ago so we will start our trip in Boca Raton, then move up to Orlando for New Years, and then onto Tampa and finish off in St. Augustine. We will drive back to South Florida to spend another couple of days to rest before heading back home.

Cheers,

Daniel

Sounds like a good trip, however i would change the downtown Tampa part as there aint much there and the city kinda shuts down after business hours,i'd replace it with something out by the beaches of St Pete perhaps around the Johns Pass area.

I agree with jambo - forget Tampa, downtown St. Pete is beautiful with waterfront parks and great places to eat/drink, plus beaches are a 15-20 minute drive away.

In St. Aug., take the trolley tour - it takes you all around the historic places and you can get off where you want if you want to visit a particular spot.

The only thing in St Augustine that is really historic is the fort. Everything else is a made up tourist attraction. If you are pressed for time skip St Augustine and the schlock.

Do you have any other tips around St. Pete? Any restaurant or specific areas like Johns Pass mentioned by Jambo?
In St. Augustine, are there any other nice spots?
