Ohio and West Virginia are depressed areas. Many parts of Texas are booming. I would definitely take Texas of those three. If you can take the heat.

The palm beach post. Considering how cheap you can get in Texas, those Florida prices make absolutely no sense and have a long way to drop.

Great! Why aren't you packing your bags? Why oh why would you be spending time here on ol overpriced Florida? Hmm? I'd also be willing to bet that the Palm Beach Post did NOT print any story recently predicting a further drop of that magnitude.

Ever seen Texas in person? Many buyers have, and that's why buyers are willing to pay more for Florida.

Palm Beach prices will correct, but it'll always be pricey because it's Palm Beach. There's a reason why the wealthiest of the wealthy buy homes in Palm Beach. If the Scripps Inst. thing ever really takes off and truly develops a biotech R+D base in PB watch out. The main thing separating South Florida prices from Southern California prices is income disparity/job quality, if that gets erased expect Palm Beach prices to go ape do-doo as high-paid workers compete with the already-rich for scarce land.

Sunnydog, I'm not disputing whether or not Palm Beach Cnty prices will correct. What I'm disputing is that the Post would print such an article as claimed.
Far as Taxes, I lived in Dallas ( Highland Park Village ).
I stayed for a little over a year. I was extremly happy to leave.

Texas is not that bad. We lived in San Antonio back in the early 90's and thought that it was horribly hot in the summer, but it was some very pretty terrain up in N. Bexar and Kendal County!
In keeping track with markets, we have read that Houston has had some increased crime since the hurricanes, but all in all it is still a reasonable place to live and buy a home.
MrT, was Dallas that bad?? We had thought about going there before moving here.
Back to the topic here, I see DR Horton Homes is slashing prices big time! They are offering $50K off... Hmmmm still over-priced! LOL
