Maybe you should stop hanging out with rapists and car burglars...

There are car burglars even in my "rich" community, but I don't hang out with burglars. Burglars= bad.

Good job exposing to the entire net that you were a burglar. Just cuing you that you should edit that out of your post.

Clearwater isn't "that bad" but it's pretty scummy. It's more like Hollywood, FL bad (sleazy) than Opa-Locka, FL or bad side of West Palm Beach bad (drop ya s**t) though.

I would say inland areas would be " safer " then coastal areas in my experiences in Florida. For example...

If you wanted to live in Central Florida but wanted to do without the big crime of places like Tampa, Orlando, and St. Pete. I would look to areas like Lithia, Bartow, Mulberry, Lake Wales, and maybe even the Kathleen areas, As many here know, I would NEVER recommend Polk County because I'm not a fan of WAY rural areas, However, If you want a safer area in the Tampa Bay area then you should look out that way. You'll have a helluva commute though if you're driving to Tampa but hey, Sometimes to live in a good neighborhood you have to make sacrifices, right ?

Ceiling Cat is on a distinguished road
I have a child porn producer living next door to me, had a young woman come to my door a few months ago one night looking to use my phone because she'd just been attacked, I have been stalked and almost kidnapped, almost kidnapped again in a Disney parking lot (with my sisters), met and entertained a man who later killed an entire family and received the death penalty from the state, people down the road from us were robbed in broad daylight as they stood on their front lawns, I heard gunshots next door when no one lived there, everyone in this neighborhood has had their sheds broken into many times, mailboxes smashed or knocked over, there's gang "art" all over small stores, etc.

I live in Central Florida, inland in Hillsborough County.

Hillsborough County is inland, not near the beach, probably an hour drive.

What does it mean living inland has less crime???? What??? I live in Cape Coral, not much crime here. Hell Orlando leads over Miami or Tampa!!! I never felt unsafe here, Melbourne, Palm Bay, Bradenton/Sarasota. When I lived in Winter Park in 1995 it wasn't bad either. Crime is inland, outland, upland and backland.... Cape Coral is a 46 under state and national average by more than half on the relocation crime lab index. My town I was in in MA was 6, not kidding. Where I am moving to in MA in a few weeks is 59. MA state average is 73, where Florida state is 130. Crime is crime, and it's everywhere, some places better than others.

I haven't been down there in a decade, Cut me a break.

Traditionally, Tampa and Miami were the two big fish when it came to crime. I can still remember ( not too long ago ) When Orlando was still just a little sleepy town known only for the Magic and Disney. I guess ALOT has changed.

Just because Orlando has now topped Miami and Tampa in crime, doesn't make Miami and Tampa less dangerous. There are still some very bad neighborhoods in both cities. I recall a few years ago when Tampa lead Miami in every crime category with the exception to capital murder.

I used to live in LeHigh Acres as well as Ft. Myers and LaBelle, Cape Coral was known then ( 2002/2003/2004 time frame ) as the place where Ft. Myers wealthy lived. I'm not sure if that's still true, however I too never felt threatend in Ft. Myers.

I'll give you Orlando, However... You can't honestly say that living in North Tampa is equally or more safe then living in.. lets say... Winter Haven.

You can't honestly say that living in Opa-Locka is equally or more safe then living in.. lets say... Immokalee. ( I know Immokalee is almost 2 hours West of Opa-Locka but still, Miami is VERY coastal city. )

Do I have a point or am I insane ?

Hillsborough county is so different in different parts of the county it almost can't be considered one county.

Tampa is probably the worst place to be in a 100 mile radius. Tampa is gangland, you can't go anywhere without running into a gang.

On the other hand Lutz is pretty nice in most parts. Lutz was voted one of the best places to live in the United States.
