need to ask the ones that say that Florida is not safe.
Questions: How many times has someone broke in your home? a few times growing up but alarm system scare them away, as do large doggies. And I would never leave my doors unlocked no matter where I lived ...that's just inviting trouble ...
How many people kill in your block? none but many from accidents in the area ...TRAFFIC BABY!
How many rapes with 5 miles? ohh that's prolly high, as are sexual predators but just how things are now ...that's not just Florida
How many times was your car stolen? once HA! I forgot about that. It was near busch Blvd tho, I was stupid to park in that area.
Tampa is like any other place ...lots of people = lots of crime.
you can look up sexual predators and what-not(crime reports) and see if the area you are looking at is somewhat safe.

A counter point:
Travel: Classy Tallahassee
I've lived in various parts of Tallahassee for 20 years now, and have never been the victim of any sort of crime. That's just my personal experience, but...
...I live in a neighborhood where elementary school kids walk around unescorted at all times of day and night. The last burglary in the neighborhood was 10 years ago. I often forget to lock the doors at night.
Yes there is crime in the community, but there are plenty of safe places to live in Florida. Just get away from the major cities and tourist traps, and rely on the locals to tell you good places to live. I feel MUCH safer where I am today than in the place I grew up in (Tampa).

To Leaving Florida.
I take it you sell insurance. He might not be able to do anything, but someone will. Big Biz Owners are crying to the gov because all of their workers are leaving Florida left and right because they cant afford insurance. Plus they have to take a course to learn a new language so they can understand the new workers thay hire. (You know the ones the state pays the rent for). If things keep going the way they are the Insurance companies may pull out anyway. There will be no one to insure except for motels and such. You know what its going to get a lot worse with the global warming and the wierd weather paterens and FL. is not the only one effected.
As for Socialism you need to pay more attention to the news and what is getting passed without a person being able to vote on it. Our Civil Rights are being QUIETLY taking away from us every year. A few years ago the police could not enter your house without a warrant, but now they can, There more that have been taking away but I don't have the time or the space to write them all. Let me tell you what they in Allen County Indiana. The whole county has been made smoke free. That means that one can't smoke in county or city parks, hospital parking lots, restaurants, bars, Etc, Ect......and if one gets caught smoking they get a ticket. Do you think we got vote on that. NO WAY. Hell They might as well hang the sign WHITES ONLY again. Because thats what it is. desegregation. In other words they just took away a right called freedom of choice. ITS PROHIBITION all over again, or it will be. Do you think it will stop there ?
Think about it.

Huh ????
I have a choice to to kill my lungs with someone elses bad unhealthy habit and they have no choice but to stop making me breathe the stuff.
Whites only sign, you gotta be kidding me? Better look at the other mess we are in with illegals before we get into that.
My Brother in Law lives in Miramar and tells me he can leave his doors wide open and cannot remember a single problem in his neighborhood for years.
Hey, wait until good ole billary runs the show, you think you have rights, she will tell you when to use the potty if she has her way. Be afraid, very afraid.
Dems love the government to run your life and we will be in big doo if this happens.
Back to the original issue, there are far worse places to live then many places in Florida, we all have issues, its your choice to live and choose where you want to live, yup.... we still got those choices..... If you do not want to live in an unsafe area, its your choie and your fault if you still live there and or move into one, so much info is right at your fingertips to make a mistake like that.
I am happy with my freedoms, but smoking is NOT a freedom when it effects others lives like it has been proven to kill many. Example, mother in law has smoked for 50 years, father in law NEVER smoked, he dies of lung cancer from breathing her smoke for 50 years, she lives on. Heck even their dog couldn't breathe right from her nasty habit.
Freedoms are everywhere, when you start picking them apart is when you will be blind to all the good we have.
Global Warming.... If you follow anything Al Gore has to say, then I got a cheap parking lot to sell you.
We had some ( many ) of the coldest days in the last 15 years here in Ohio this past year, so much for Global Warming

I have lived in Tallahassee for 10 years. Where I work, people often don't lock their cars. I see old women walking around my neighborhood at midnight. I have never been a victim of crime.
In a town of 200,000 there are maybe 5-10 murders a year.
Its safe here.

There are 3 generations of law enforcement officers in my family. There is no such thing as a place "safe" enough to leave doors unlocked. People are people, and that goes for everywhere! I do however find Jupiter, Florida a "safe" place to live, but I still lock my doors, supervise my kids, and set the ADT at night. Common sense & crime data statistics should convince you that bad things can happen to anyone, anywhere. Please use your head and lock your doors, no matter where you live.

Can I ask you something and I don't mean it to be derogatory but. We looked at places a few years back in Jupiter farms and we hated it. Every property had huge holes in the yards with water in them that look like mosquito factories and I would be scared to death if I had young children, have any ever drowned in those holes? I am serious, I have to ask because we almost ran out of the place and were on 95 going home saying "What the hell was that"

I live in Broward County and my neighbors have left their doors unlocked for the past few years that I have lived here. Not a single theft, break in, or anything has been reported in my neighborhood in the past four years. And I live in SOUTH Florida. I would never leave my doors unlocked personally, but my region of Florida is certainly safe. The sex offender ratio in west Broward is pretty low, most cities have about 2000 to 1, MUCH lower than most of urban Florida and most of the country. Its fine here for safety, but we do pay $$$$ for it!
