Question Barefoot Bay

Is anybody familiar with it? It's located around Micco. Any information would be appreciated.

what did you want to know?

It is a very large community, mostly over 55, all manufactured homes. The homes are very nice, many are 2 bedroom, some 3 bedroom. There is a community center and I believe 3 or 4 pools.

My grandparents bought in Barefoot Bay in the '70's.

It has had tremendous growth since then, and was hit pretty hard by Hurricane Frances (might have been Jeanne).

The complex is (was?) nice. It is pretty self contained with doctors, post office, fire station, convenience store, etc.

The area around there is not too bad. There are (were?) some great local seaffod places nearby.

It's a trailer park, or as realtors + residents call them, a "manufactured housing community", but a nicely kept one. The location is great--right across US1 from the Indian River. I'd rather live there than in, say, a 3 bedroom house out of state. Location, Location, Locaton!

I used to live in Barefoot Bay. It is a nice community of manufactured homes. 1/2 mile from the Indian river, If you work in Vero Beach or Melbourne, (closest larger cities) it is close enough not to have a long commute. It is located in the town of Micco but is contained with its own Post office and stores. Safe enough to walk, jog, roller blade, bicycle. Real nice homes too, deed restricted, can't have garbage in your yard and MUST keep up with the grass and landscape. Owners own th lot the house sits on as well as the home itself. There is an association fee that includes garbage pickup. Like 50 bucks a month or so. Its big, 500 plus homes. There is a golf course, 4 pools, tennis, post office, diner, laundry mat if you don't have a washer dryer but most folks do. There is a playground. Lots of over 55s but also families moving in. It is located 6 miles north of Sebastian Florida, a nice town. Arlo Guthrie lives there, gives free concerts in the park a few times a year. There are lots of retired professional artists and musicians in this area, check out "Little Hollywood", a small and quaint sub-community between Micco and Sebastian of laid back bohemian types and lots of boats, fish and get togethers. Not for the big city party animal types, the key word here is LAID BACK, and you get to know everybody. Nice seafood places to eat, quiet, bedroom community right on the Indian River, a few miles south you can cross the causeway to the ocean. NICE! This area does not have the over population and crap that other places in Florida have like Daytona or Miami and West Palm. It is about 45 miles south of Cocoa beach, on the East Coast. GREAT place to watch the space shuttles and rockets taking off and landing!!

Lots of Hurricane damage in 04, Francis AND Jeanne! Mod deleted

Default Barefoot bay

I have heard that Barefoot Bay its a very nice manufactored home community with beach access...But in all the pictures I have been able to see it seems to be in front of the river....When people say it has beach access is it navigating through the river or do they have another property on the actual beach...If so does anyone know were is the beach access?

Thank you,

Chagy......

The beach access for Barefoot Bay is over to the ocean...Its about a half-hour ride but nice to make the trip now and then..locked gate ,porta-potty,water pump to wash feet..Nice ocean front and not many people at all..good fishing. All owners get a key..We also have a 800 foot pier with lights right in the front of the Bay on the Indian River..Good living really..We are not all retired,I work, husband works but nice to come home to the pools after a hard day...Kids are welcome and there is a youth group for activies..Several houses for sale or rent and you can get one for 60-70 thousand..not bad really...
