I,
I'm an Italian man, married, whit a wonderfull child. My daughters is 5 years old. My wife and me is 41 years old.
I'm really interested in Florida, but I have only little information on your contry. I need to know if it is possible for an Italian to live in florida, the job possibility (i'm an advertising project manager in Milan), and the residential possibility. Yesterday I have seen the holidaybuilders site. The price is very low. Have you some council about the best areas to live in Florida?

Please excuse me for my english.... I need to do practice whit your language.

Best regards

Italian family

Default It depends on the builder

Stay away from KB Homes, Adams Homes, Holiday Homes. These are the ones that I heard alot of problems with.

Usually the homes are constructed with a block construction and now with all the new hurricane codes, they are making them even stronger.

The truss systems for the roofs are well made also, well at least my house is.

If you watch them build those "brick" houses in Georgia, you will appreciate the construction of our houses in Florida. Sure, they look nice and sturdy, but under that thin veneer of brick facing is just wood. I'll take good old Florida block construction any day.

FWIW, the same illegal aliens work for KB, Centex, Ryland, etc. It's not like they stick them in the back of the KB truck and truck them all over Florida to build houses. Most of the time these national home builders partner up with local General Contractors and use local labor. The foundations and block work are rarely the problems in new construction. The common problems you will find are with poor stucco, poor framing of windows and doors, walls that are not plumb, 2nd story floors that are not level and lousey trim work. Although this stuff is very costly to fix and can cause some real problems for the homeowner, it is not really structural in nature.

Hey ,
I live in Melbourne Fl. There is a Italian/American club here and I know
the president as well as several of the members. Melbourne is a good place
to live. There are two city golf courses as well as a couple of gambling
boats that will take you out for five or six hours for free. Of course they
want you to gamble but that is up to you. Me, I go for the ride.
The schools here seem to be okay. My grand daughter was here for
a couple of years and she had no trouble. I pay $1450 in property taxes
and $1100 for home owners insurance. ( homeowners insurance could be
a problem as many of the companies a rerally raising there rates so be
very carefull about that. Also it is my understanding that in this area
you will be taxed on the price that you pay for the home and I believe that
it is 8% of the purchase price. I could be wrong so look into this very carfully). They say that used homes are comming down but I don't think that they will come down to much. Some careful shopping MIGHT get you
a bargin. I myself an considering selling my home as it is too big for my
wife and myself. She is just getting over colon cancer so do as you must do.
If you want more info or want ot get touch with the club contact me
with a private message and I will send you my E-mail address with the info.

WELCOME TO THE U.S.A.

LOVE THE U.S.A.
